"Mom, who is it?"
Fu Mingxue heard the commotion outside too. There was no way she could go to sleep now, so she came out to see what was happening.
She was surprised to see the two people at the door.
’Isn’t that the old lady from Xiangjiang from the other day?’
’How did they find their way to my house?’
Old Mrs. Rong hadn’t said a word until now, but her eyes lit up the moment she saw Fu Mingxue, and she became incredibly emotional.
The fall that day had been painful, so her attention was divided. At the time, she had only registered that the girl was stunningly beautiful and vaguely familiar.
She hadn’t connected the girl’s face with the identical looks of her own younger sister.
But now, seeing her face-to-face—they were truly identical.
It reminded her of her younger sister in her youth.
"Yishu!" Her voice trembled with emotion.
Fu Mingxue was baffled.
Rong Jun spoke up. "Apologies, my grandmother is a little emotional. Could we come in and talk?"
Fu Mingxue looked at him, then back at the emotional old lady from Xiangjiang.
"Put those things back. You two can come in and talk."
"But—" Rong Jun didn’t understand.
He couldn’t help but turn to look at his grandmother.
Old Mrs. Rong nodded. "Do as she says."
Rong Jun immediately had the bodyguards take the gifts back to the car.
Seeing this, Mrs. Fu quickly stepped aside.
Rong Jun helped the old lady inside.
He quickly sized up the courtyard home—it was a very nice house indeed.
’It seems this potential cousin of mine is living quite well.’
They hadn’t been idle these past few days. Thanks to those two donations, the people helping with the investigation had been very diligent.
Unfortunately, there had been no progress in Pingkou Town.
The investigation had confirmed that she was the biological child of the Fu family there.
It was the same for her supposed birth mother; she’d had no contact with the grandaunt.
