Chapter 81: Chapter 79: Goldman Golding’s Sincerity

"I’ve finished reviewing the contract. Overall, there are no major issues. I’ve marked a few clauses that you can renegotiate with them."

Lawyer Lynn spoke, pointing with her pen for Cecilia Sterling and Lily Sterling to see. "Take the contract term, for example. A newcomer’s agency contract is typically five to ten years long. It won’t be too short, but signing for three years is also an option. It all depends on your negotiations."

"Also, about the resources they’re promising you—one platform S Level project per year, with a role no lower than the third female lead—these are all ’soft clauses’ with room for negotiation."

Lily Sterling nodded, understanding. She said to her sister, "Sis, as long as it’s a role I want to play, I don’t mind the project’s level or the size of the part."

"You can explain that to them in a bit. You need to learn to express your own needs," Cecilia Sterling said.

Just as they were speaking, there was a knock on the dressing room door. It was Connie.

"Lily Sterling, hello."

Connie got straight to the point. "I’m an agent from Locke Entertainment. You can just call me Connie."

"Please have a seat, Connie. May I ask what this is about?"

Connie smiled. "Of course. First, take a look at this."

As she spoke, Connie casually pulled an artist contract from her bag and handed it to Lily Sterling. When Lily saw the words on the cover, she instinctively started to refuse, but Connie gently cut her off. "Don’t be so quick to say no. Just take a look first."

Seeing this, Yuna leaned in and explained to Lily in a low voice, "Connie is Goldman Golding’s ace agent. She manages both Alistair York and Heather Keaton."

Lily Sterling’s mouth fell open in surprise.

"Thank you, Connie. I’ll take a look, then." Lily complied, taking the contract, but her heart was already twisting in knots.

’Never mind whether the terms of this contract are better or not... I’ve basically already committed to signing with Ms. Iris Underwood. That’s what I’ve been planning all along.’

Sensing her sister’s unease, Cecilia Sterling patted her back comfortingly. "It’s okay, just take a look," she said softly. "When it’s time to make a decision, all you have to do is follow your heart."

She knew her sister’s personality. Turning people down was incredibly difficult for her. But one has to learn to say "no," especially in the entertainment industry.

Lily Sterling nodded. With her sister by her side, she really did feel much more grounded.

The terms offered in Goldman Golding’s contract were certainly more tempting than the one from Ms. Underwood, but the areas where it stood out weren’t things Lily cared much about.

For example, the pay split. Goldman Golding was offering her an extra percentage point.

For another, Goldman Golding promised her a female lead role in an S Level project within two years, as well as a starring role in a prime-time broadcast drama.

For any other newcomer, these incredibly tempting promises would be a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to skyrocket to fame.

But Lily, after reading it, felt her heart remain unmoved.

Lily nodded, shot her sister a quick glance, and then hurried out of the dressing room.

Connie and Lawyer Lynn also followed them out, leaving only Cecilia Sterling, Yuna, and Finn in the dressing room.

Cecilia Sterling opened her suitcase, took out three gift bags, and offered them to the other two. "I brought you some local specialties from Veridia. Thank you for taking care of Lily all this time."

"You’re too kind. We couldn’t possibly accept this," Yuna said, surprised. She seemed to have not expected Lily’s sister to be so thoughtful as to bring them gifts.

Cecilia Sterling smiled. "Don’t be so formal. It’s the least I can do. As a newcomer, there’s a lot Lily doesn’t know. It’s all thanks to you two looking out for her. One box for each of you, and this one is for Ms. Winnie."

She hadn’t even forgotten Winnie, the makeup artist. Yuna and Finn’s impression of Cecilia Sterling instantly soared.

The two accepted the gifts and thanked her profusely. Cecilia then took the opportunity to ask, "My sister isn’t one to show her feelings, especially when she’s upset—she never says anything. Has she been doing okay on set? Has anything unpleasant happened?"
