Reborn Rich: Prices Dropped, My Savings Didn't novel Chapter 83

Chapter 83: Chapter 81: While It’s Hot! A Second Still Photoshoot

"Mr. Sawyer, I can understand how you feel, but we need to separate the acting from reality. Your daughter is playing a role, and it’s perfectly normal for new actors to start with smaller parts."

Mr. Sawyer knew what James Lockwood said was true. Still, every time he saw the daughter he had pampered and coddled since birth playing such a subservient role, he couldn’t help but feel a pang in his heart.

After wrestling with it for a moment, he finally said, "In that case, President Lockwood, could you talk to the director? Try to avoid having her kneel if possible."

James Lockwood was a little speechless. ’How can you play a maid without kneeling?’ he thought. ’If he’s so worried about his daughter, why let her become an actress in the first place?’

But considering the man was an investor, after all, James Lockwood finally nodded. "Alright, I’ll discuss it with the director and screenwriter. We’ll avoid having her kneel unless it’s absolutely necessary."

Mr. Sawyer finally managed a smile, but it still looked a bit forced. It was clear he didn’t want his daughter to continue playing a maid, but he was out of options.

After the take was finished, staff members swarmed forward, surrounding Lily Sterling and Andrew Sutton. The assistant director had even prepared two bouquets to congratulate them on their promotional photos hitting number one on the trending charts.

"Lily, Andrew, you guys were amazing!"

"Lily, your follower count is exploding! You’re almost at four million across all platforms in just a few hours!"

"Congratulations! The buzz is still growing. It’s probably going to go completely viral by the time we hit peak traffic at noon!"

"It’s already viral! The official account’s comments section has over forty thousand comments!"

The crowd was full of enthusiasm. Lily Sterling and Andrew Sutton could only nod and thank them repeatedly. On the outskirts, Suzanne Sawyer’s eyes turned red with jealousy as she watched. But what could she do?

Lily Sterling’s surge in popularity today was nothing short of phenomenal. A single promotional photo had been enough to make her blow up the trending charts.

Jessica Reynolds was also unhappy. She watched coldly as Lily became the center of everyone’s attention. On this set, it shouldn’t be a newcomer like Lily stealing the show. Forget me, she’s even starting to outshine Yuna Sutton.

But on second thought, Jessica couldn’t help but let out a cold sneer. ’She loves the spotlight this much? Yuna Sutton’s fans will never let her get away with it.’

’Just wait until they dogpile you!’

Just then, someone from the marketing team suddenly appeared. They pulled Lily Sterling and Andrew Sutton out of the chaos. "Lily, Andrew, you two need to come with me right now to shoot another set of promotional materials."

"Now?" Lily Sterling was a bit surprised. "But... I have another scene soon."

Andrew Sutton nodded. It was true; they both had another scene coming up.

"It’s fine. Half an hour, tops. We need to shoot this quickly. We’ll ride the wave of today’s viral popularity and release them tonight!"

You had to hand it to Goldman Golding’s marketing team—they were both professional and relentless, seizing every possible moment to pull people away for another photoshoot.

Lily could only follow them in a daze. Seeing this from a distance, Jessica Reynolds quickly went after them.

’Another photoshoot?’

’I’m the one who needs a reshoot!’

Since they were on location and not in a professional studio, the marketing team decided to use the film set as a background. They were aiming for a natural, lively feel, and chose a garden with a rockery and a pavilion for the scene.

"Okay, girl, show me a look of blissful contentment, tilt your head up slightly toward the sky. Guy, wrap your arms around her waist from behind and gently rest your chin against her temple. Get a little closer, make it sweet. The fans love this stuff."

"Perfect, perfect! Let’s do another one. Lily, start running, let the gauze skirt fly..."

"A waste of time? Weren’t you the ones who told me my set of photos was lost? That the negatives were gone too? It’s one thing not to inform me about a reshoot, but now you’re saying *I’m* wasting *your* time?" Jessica’s voice rose in anger, nearly cracking.

The team members looked at each other helplessly. Finally, the leader, perhaps out of respect for their past interactions, gave Jessica a hint. "Jessica, you haven’t just gotten into this business. You should be able to guess what’s going on in a situation like this. We’re just the grunts who follow orders. The decisions come from the top. We can only obey."

"It’s useless for you to reshoot these photos. Even if you do, they’ll just get ’lost’ again, you understand?"

The meaning was crystal clear. They were telling Jessica that her promotional photos would not be released. The people upstairs wouldn’t allow it!

Jessica had her suspicions, but hearing it confirmed with such veiled comments still came as a major shock.

’Why?’

’Why are they blocking my photos? Who did I offend?’

"Sigh... Jessica, why don’t you go ask President Lockwood? He happens to be on set today. I don’t think Keaton would dare to do something like this unless President Lockwood gave the order."

The realization hit Jessica like a ton of bricks. ’That’s right,’ she thought. ’It had to be President Lockwood’s order. Who else in the company would have the power to sabotage me like this?!’

Meanwhile, James Lockwood was in an air-conditioned room, hiding from the heat and chatting casually with Cecilia Sterling.

"This weather... it’s really tough on the actors. We were sweating just from watching one scene."

As he spoke, James Lockwood took a bottle of chilled fruit juice from the mini-fridge and handed it to Cecilia Sterling.

Cecilia Sterling accepted it with a word of thanks, then casually asked, "That gentleman from before... was that Suzanne Sawyer’s father?"
