Reborn with Nothing but My Farm and Vengeance in the Apocalypse novel Chapter 550

Chapter 550: Chapter 550: Retribution

Melody Summers felt surprisingly calm as she watched the couple in front of her, who looked as if they’d been struck by lightning.

’It’s time to end all this.’

Melody silently walked to the window, opened it, and let the wind, carrying a fine drizzle, blow in and disperse the heavy atmosphere in the living room.

She then turned, looked at Robert Lancaster and Elaine Hughes, and explained for the third time, "It’s not impossible. I was, in fact, reborn. And much earlier than you were."

By now, Robert had recovered from his initial shock. He looked at Melody and struggled to ask, "W-when... when... did you... come... back..."

"Are you trying to ask when I came back?" Melody glanced at Robert and answered, "Before the apocalypse began. The day I first returned to the Lancaster Family."

Recalling the scene, Melody couldn’t help but scoff. "Thinking back on it now, that day was quite a show... You all claimed to be my family, yet every one of you was eyeing me like a predator, terrified I’d come back and wrong your precious daughter."

"This life, I did as you wished and didn’t return to your Lancaster Family. So how did you end up in such a pathetic state?"

Melody shot a mocking glance at Robert and continued sarcastically, "Especially you, President Lancaster. In our last life, you kept the company afloat by selling off my marriage. I didn’t expect you to be just as useless after a do-over."

"This life, you sold your daughter, then your sons, then your wife. You’ve sold off everyone around you that you could, haven’t you? Since you love selling so much, why didn’t you sell yourself? Or does President Lancaster know he’s just an unsellable liability?"

After mocking Robert, Melody didn’t let Elaine off either. She glanced at her and said, "But it was useless, wasn’t it? All three people you sold were returned. Ethan Sutton didn’t want Sylvia, Holly Rhodes dumped Simon, and Mrs. Lancaster herself was wrapped in a blanket and thrown out of The Nimbus Hotel!"

"Enough! Don’t say any more!" Elaine couldn’t listen any longer. She trembled all over as she looked at Melody, her voice tinged with tears. "Daughter, please don’t be like this. We wronged you in our last life. We shouldn’t have ignored you, but we truly regret it! Can’t you give us another chance?"

"Since heaven let all of us be reborn, it must mean heaven wanted to give us another chance to correct our mistakes. From now on, the three of us can live a good life together as a family, wouldn’t that be nice? Why can’t you just give us one more chance?"

Beside her, Robert also looked at Melody with pleading eyes and said, "...Yes... daughter... give... Mom and Dad..."

"Not killing you on the spot was me giving you a chance," Melody said with a blank expression. "But you just had to be gluttons for punishment, insisting on running to your deaths one by one. What could I do? Of course, I had to grant your wishes."

The moment Melody finished speaking, Robert’s eyes flew wide open. He pointed a trembling finger at her, his face filled with shock, and stammered, "It... it was you! ...Simon... and Silas... You... you did this to them..."

Hearing this, Melody scoffed. "Me? Of course not. Killing them would have sullied my hands."

Melody looked at the Lancaster couple, whose faces had drained of color, with a mocking gaze and said softly, "Besides, didn’t you both see their bodies? The state they were in... is that something a woman like me could have done?"

Although Melody hadn’t seen the state of Simon’s and Silas’s corpses herself, she thought about the "special preferences" of that boss, Saul Archer. ’They probably didn’t die pretty deaths,’ she mused.

Sure enough, upon hearing Melody’s words, Robert and Elaine recalled the miserable state of their two sons’ corpses, and their expressions turned utterly ghastly.

Robert was already unsteady and was slapped to the floor by Melody. His head hit the ground as he fell, making a dull THUD.

A sharp pain shot through his head, and Robert instinctively clutched it, moaning in agony.

After hitting Robert, Melody felt disgusted. She took a wet wipe from her pocket and slowly, deliberately wiped her hands.

Nearby, Elaine lifted her head and stared blankly at Melody, a wave of grief washing over her. She simply couldn’t connect the cold, indifferent Melody before her with the gentle, considerate daughter from their past life...

Elaine sat dazedly on the floor, murmuring, "...How could you do this to them? They’re your own brothers... Do you have any idea what they went through before they died...?"

Elaine would never forget it for the rest of her life. Simon and Silas’s bodies had been stiff, stark naked, and covered in mottled bruises. Their entire bodies were covered in the marks of abuse...

Their eyes had been wide open in death, a clear sign they had died with eternal regret!

Recalling the scene, Elaine felt a twisting pain in her heart. She couldn’t help but clutch her chest, letting out a pained wail.

"What are you yelling for? So noisy!" Melody frowned in annoyance at Elaine’s histrionics. "What’s wrong? Isn’t this the exact ending you chose for me in our last life?"

"Now that it’s happened to your own sons, you can’t accept it?"
