Reborn with Nothing but My Farm and Vengeance in the Apocalypse novel Chapter 565

Chapter 565: Chapter 565: Wu Yu

Seeing her gun snatched away, Nina Summers’s heart sank—

’It’s over!’

’He took the gun!’

’I’m dead!’

What neither of them noticed was a wisp of white mist, like a puff of smoke, that quietly drifted to their feet. An invisible energy field rapidly expanded in the small space, as if it could devour everything around it.

Just when Nina Summers was certain she was about to die, the man before her asked in a low voice, "You’re... Melody Summers’s sister?"

The moment the man finished speaking, the wisp of white mist seemed to freeze. Albus hesitated for a moment, deciding to observe for now. The rapidly expanding energy field began to slowly contract.

Nina Summers looked up, dazed. She stared at the man before her and stammered, "...Who... who are you...?"

Seeing Nina Summers’s face, pale with fright, Yuri Walsh offered a polite smile and answered in a reassuring tone, "Don’t be afraid. I’m not a bad guy. I’m a friend of your sister, Melody Summers. My name is Yuri Walsh... You might not remember, but we met once before at a party."

He then handed the gun back to Nina Summers, adding a kind warning, "A young lady like yourself has to be careful with a gun. It’d be a real problem if it went off by accident."

With the gun back in her hands, Nina Summers felt her sense of security surge. This act made her trust the man named Yuri Walsh a little more. ’He probably won’t hurt me,’ she thought. ’Otherwise, he wouldn’t have given the gun back.’

Nina Summers clutched the gun, wanting to ask Yuri Walsh why he was here and whether he had run into Melody Summers outside.

But before Nina Summers could ask, Yuri Walsh had already walked past her and into the room on his own.

Spotting the four people lying on the floor, their conditions unknown, Yuri Walsh frowned almost imperceptibly. He turned to Nina Summers, asking in surprise, "And what happened here?"

Nina Summers didn’t know what to say. She still didn’t completely trust Yuri Walsh and didn’t want to reveal too much. She could only explain vaguely, "...I-I was kidnapped by them... They were going to kill me, so... I took them down."

Yuri Walsh’s expression grew complicated upon hearing her explanation.

He glanced at the two men on the floor, both over six feet tall, then back at the slender, delicate Nina Summers. He couldn’t imagine how someone with her physique could have possibly taken down two men like that.

Besides, neither of the men had any gunshot wounds. How had she managed to knock them unconscious?

The two of them stared at each other, neither saying a word. Yuri Walsh was silent from shock, Nina Summers from guilt. An awkward silence filled the room. And that was the scene Melody Summers walked in on.

Melody Summers’s pupils constricted at the sight.

She hurried forward, pulling Nina Summers behind her, and asked Yuri Walsh in surprise, "...Dr. Walsh? What are you doing here?"

Melody’s gaze held not just surprise, but also wariness. Seeing her reaction, Yuri Walsh pinched the bridge of his nose in resignation. "Don’t worry," he sighed. "A colleague invited me. I thought it was just a teahouse, but I never expected..."

At this, Yuri Walsh glanced around the room, his brow furrowing slightly. "I never expected it was a front for this kind of illegal business... If I had known, I never would have come."

Hearing this only made Melody Summers more certain. ’Yuri Walsh is definitely involved in this!’

The thought that this man, who had once helped her out of a tight spot and even secured special medicine for her, was involved in this kind of illegal racket made Melody Summers feel a pang of disappointment.

Inwardly, Melody sighed, but her face put on a show of dawning comprehension. Shock, thoughtfulness, hesitation, fear... the emotions flickered across her features in succession.

Finally, as if she had made a decision, Melody Summers looked up at Yuri Walsh. "Dr. Walsh, you’re right. This situation is too complicated. For ordinary people like us, just staying safe is hard enough. We really can’t risk going to the police and bringing disaster upon ourselves. Thank you for the warning!"

Melody’s expression was sincere, but Yuri Walsh simply stared at her, his eyes glinting with a complex emotion she couldn’t decipher.

His stare made her uncomfortable, and the carefully constructed expression on her face nearly crumbled.

After a long moment, Yuri Walsh gave a slight smile. "I wish you both a safe trip. Be careful on your way."

After watching Melody Summers and Nina Summers leave, Yuri Walsh’s expression hardened. He turned and walked back into The Serene Leaf Teahouse, running right into Autumn Sawyer as she was coming down the stairs.

Autumn Sawyer was hurrying, her exquisitely made-up face etched with urgency. Seeing Yuri Walsh, she rushed forward. "Mr. Walsh, how could you just let them go! If word gets out about what’s happening here..."

Yuri Walsh ignored her question, not even deigning to give her a glance.

Holding his phone to his ear, he brushed past her, speaking into the receiver. "There’s been an incident at The Serene Leaf Teahouse. Arrange for the women in the lab to be moved. Immediately."
