Chapter 147
She felt defeated. There was no chance in hell she could overpower that bastard. It was impossible. Maybe Marissa wasn’t as clever as MaryAnne thought she was after all.
Marissa smiled slowly. “He’s not going to get his hands on you anymore, mother, and who said anything about having to fight him? I know you’ve been weakened by your wolf,” she said cunningly, “so I thought of something else that’s going to help you. All you have to do,” she slowly withdrew a vial and a syringe from beneath her clock, swiftly handing them to a stunned MaryAnne, “is inject him with this. It’s a swift acting poison that harms shifters. Filled with all sorts of things, including wolfsbane, silver, vervain and I’m not sure of the exact details, but it will kill him. Painfully,” she emphasized as her mother’s hands shook, “and you’ll finally be free of the bastard. Won’t that be nice?” she said with a dark look on her face.
For the first time in what felt like forever, MaryAnne’s eyes began to gleam with hope. She carefully filled the syringe with trembling hands and then hid the items underneath the blanket in the cell before looking back at her daughter.
“Even if I poison him then what? I won’t be able to outrun the warriors in this pack,” she said anxiously. “They’ll catch me before I can make it to the grounds.”
“I have a car waiting for you at the end of the driveway of the pack,” Marissa told her calmly, “and he won’t be able to mind-link when he’s been stabbed. All you have to do is get him while he’s vulnerable and when you are both,” she coughed, “alone.”
“Alright,” Marissa snapped and turned back to her mother, mouthing the words, ‘I’ll be waiting,’ as MaryAnne nodded in acknowledgement.
Marissa turned, putting the hood back over her head, and allowed the guard to begin to escort her out, leaving MaryAnne behind, still in darkness, still confined, but now hopeful that she was about to finally escape this hellhole very soon. She could hardly wait, anticipation flooding through her. Marissa had just handed her the very key to regaining her future and she wasn’t about to let it go to waste. Now all she needed was that bastard Drake to summon her, and he would discover just how much she hated him.
As for Marissa? MaryAnne had plans. Her daughter was her chess piece, the one that MaryAnne would play to get Raven back and then regain her power as the Luna of her pack. She grinned to herself and quickly made herself look weak so that when Alpha Drake came in, he would suspect nothing.
