Raven POV

“Wake up,” a voice said crudely.

I jolted awake as cold water was poured over me, blinking against the darkness, my vision slowly coming into focus as I stared at the two people I knew were responsible for mine and Aeress’s kidnapping: Marissa and her mother. I tried to move my arms and felt them firmly restrained in silver cuffs behind my back, the sudden pain flaring as it burned my skin. My ankles were also restrained and as I glanced over, I could see that Aeress was in the same position as me. They weren’t taking any chances, that was for sure.

Cowards, both of them. If I could just free my hands….then we might still have a chance. I couldn’t reach my wolf, though, not between the drug and the restraints.

“What do you want?” My voice is hoarse and tired.

“What do you think?” MaryAnne demanded, a sly smile on her face. “Revenge for what you did to me, revenge what you did to Marissa.”

I glare at her, “If you want revenge, then come at me, leave Aeress alone,” I demanded, even as Aeress shook her head and made protesting sounds.

“I think not,” MaryAnne Sinclair spoke quietly, “after all, it’s partially her fault that Hades refused to marry Marissa. If she hadn’t intervened, if she hadn’t embarrassed Marissa, then maybe I would have been a bit more generous, but now, she deserves to be punished just as much as you.”

Delusional bitch. Hades refusal to marry Marissa had nothing to do with Aeress. It was just an excuse.

“Fuck you,” Aeress spat, refusing to be cowed, “you malicious, manipulative, disgusting bitches,” she snarled.

“Marissa, don’t you think that this is going overboard?” I tried to keep my voice steady, “You’re risking being discovered, and for what? Do you think Hades will let this go if you kill us? His sister’s death will be on your hands,” I emphasized, “and his mates.

She looked uncertain, simply hovering there, her eyes glancing rapidly between all three of us. Instead of being angry, she looked defeated.

“You stole everything from me,” she whispered shakily, “you stole my chance to become L:una. Do you have any idea how I feel?”

“I’m sorry, Marissa, but Hades was never meant to be yours. He’s my fated mate. He would never have accepted you.”

“Get a grip. You’re sounding like a pathetic weakling. Where is the girl who helped me to escape, who was adamant she wanted my help for revenge? That was a girl to be proud of,” MaryAnne snarled at Marissa, who flinched.
