Rejected, Abused, I Fall for the Forbidden Alpha (by Riley Scott) novel Chapter 172

Chapter 172

Raven POV

I’m in a meadow, surrounded by the most beautiful wildflowers I’ve ever seen. “Hues of purple, pink, white, and yellow as far as the eye can see. I spread my arms out wide, twirling and smelling the delicate aromas of the flowers. Was I dead? Had my spirit left my body and descended into heaven? The thought of having left Hades behind and my baby never getting a chance to be born left a heavy feeling in my chest. Hades would be devastated. I swallowed back my tears and then looked up, some instinct inside of me urging me to.

An image, or rather a video, appears in the air in front of me, forcing me to stop as I look further upwards in wonder. The image was clear, like a movie on a theatre screen. A girl looking remarkably like me, with the same black hair and green eyes, is facing off against a blonde girl that I recognized instantly as a young MaryAnne Sinclair. God, she hadn’t changed much in the later years, still same blonde hair and resting bitch face that was for sure.

What the hell was this? I stare at the image hungrily, watching it all unfold, curious about the girl I think must be my mother. She resembles me so closely, I can’t imagine that it’s anybody else.

MaryAnne pushes the other girl, causing her to stumble backwards, her hand going to her chest, the girl’s eyes open in shock. They’re outside, on the grounds of what I recognize to be the River Moon Pack.

“MaryAnne, what is your problem!” the girl shouted out angrily.

“You are Grace,” MaryAnne shouted, waving her arms wildly, “you stole him from me, and you know it,” she said accusingly.

Grace. I was right. The other girl was my mother. I try to touch the screen, but it’s useless. My hand goes right through it. All I can do is watch and listen.

“I didn’t steal him from you!” Grace shouted back, “he’s my mate, MaryAnne. He stopped seeing you before we found each other. You need to let this go already. Neither of us wanted to hurt you like this.”

“He was mine,” MaryAnne screamed, looking half-crazed as she continued to stalk towards her sister, who looked tired and even slightly panicked the closer MaryAnne got.

She nods and takes his hand. They turn away, their backs to MaryAnne now. She didn’t like that. Her eyes narrowed, and her mouth twisted into a cruel smile. There’s a look on her face, a vindictive one. She stares, watching every single step they take, unable to take her eyes off them.

I shuddered at the look of maliciousness in MaryAnne’s eyes, the expression of pure rage.

“You’ll pay for this. Both of you will,” MaryAnne shouted behind them. “You think this will change things? I won’t let you win, Grace,” she screamed, her voice almost hoarse, “I’ve always been the one to come out on top, just you remember that!”

The image fades away. I swallow hard. Another movie appears. As usual, it’s almost transparent. I look, tears in my eyes.

My mother. Her wedding to my father. They’re dancing together, looking dreamily into each other’s eyes. They sway to the music, oblivious to the crowd around them, love in their expressions. My father kisses her, his eyes soft and sparkling. The crowd cheers as he smiles down at his new wife, taking her hand and pressing it to his lips.
