Chapter 281
We went back downstairs. Marissa nodded at me and vanished, presumably to find Damien. Aaron stood up and moved towards me, his gaze apologetic.
“I’m sorry, Asher. I’ve already had words with Candice. I’m sure it won’t happen again.”
I had no choice but to accept it.
I just sighed. He took hold of my hand.
“How about I make it up to you?” he suggested with a curve of his lips.
I eyed him warily.
“Make it up how?”
“Well,” he looked outside meaningfully, “how about a run?”
I flushed.
The thought of running in my runt form made me feel highly self-conscious.
“I um…” I began, trying to refuse.
He read my mind.
“Then how about you ride me while I go for a run. You can ride on my back and hold onto my fur,” he said smoothly.
My mouth dropped open.
“Isn’t that beneath you? A Beta would not ordinarily allow just anybody to ride their back, would they?” I asked incredulously.
Wasn’t it taboo?
Aaron laughed and began to drag me outside.
“There are certain exceptions. Sure, not just anybody can ride my back, but I would allow you because you’re my mate, Damien, of course, and Marissa.”
I bit my lip, still unsure.
We were outside now. Aaron began to strip, and I gasped.
He was so nonchalant about it. Not caring in the slightest if anybody caught him. I turned my back and heard him chuckle.
“Still so shy,” he commented with amusement.
-“Shut up,” I muttered.
I heard the sound of shifting behind me and then felt something cold nudge my hand.
I turned and blinked at the beautiful wolf behind me. He was larger, only slightly smaller than an Alpha wolf, and he was a mixture of grey and white. His eyes were soft, and his fur was lush between my fingers.
He was stunning.
The terrain changed.
When we finally reached the top, I gaped in shock.
We were on a cliff, and beneath us, we could see the packhouse in the distance. Aaron stopped several feet from the edge and slowly lowered himself to the ground, allowing me to climb off slowly.
He backed away and then shifted.
I turned, and he dressed.
He grabbed my hand and sat down, placing me on his lap as we looked at the view.
“Whenever I need time alone to think things through, this is where I come. It’s like a sanctuary to me, but I want to share it with you now.”
Tears came to my eyes.
“Aaron I…”
He kissed my forehead and then turned my head towards him.
There was a look of ferocity on his face that made my breath inhale sharply.
“You are the girl I’ve been waiting for,” he breathed.
Before I could move, his lips were on me and I became lost in a haze of sensation, my entire body suddenly growing heated.
