Serenity and Zachary York novel Chapter 5518

Kaden looked pleadingly at Sonny.

Sonny did not want them to continue fighting, so spontaneously, he said, “I do want to get to know Clearfield’s industry leaders. Since you’re so kindly giving me this chance, I won’t refuse your good intentions.

“Ms. Flemming, I won’t work late tonight. I’ll go with you to that banquet. When the time comes, I’ll have to trouble you to introduce me to them.”

The moment the words left his mouth, there was no room for regret.

Nevertheless, he did not regret it. It was just a brief moment of weakness that made him not want to continue watching the show.

Everly’s head whipped around to glare at him, accusing him of giving in to her grandfather. He had opened the floodgates and now her grandfather would keep making requests like this.

Sonny chuckled, “It’s fine if you don’t want my accompaniment. We can go our own ways, but I didn’t get an invitation, so I might get stopped at the door.”

That would be embarrassing.

Kaden hurriedly reassured, “That won’t happen. I’ll give you mine so you can bring it with you, and I’ll call Arndt in advance to give him a heads up too.”

It was enough that Sonny agreed to go.

The rest were minor issues.

Arndt Lang and Kaden were old friends. Arndt knew Kaden was anxiously looking for a grandson-in-law. He always invited Kaden and Everly to his family’s banquets.

He would also invite the local young talents so Kaden could pick through them at the banquet.

Arndt said he watched Everly grow up, and so he wished she could find a good man too. He lamented that his own grandson was more than a decade younger than Everly. The age gap was too large for the two families to be united in matrimony, or else Arndt would have called dibs on Everly as a granddaughter-in-law long ago.
