After they finished eating, Yara used "walking off the food" as an excuse to drag Shera to the mall.
The mall belonged to the Yorke family's corporation, so Yara pulled her straight up to the seventh-floor luxury section to "stock up."
While Yara followed a sales associate around picking out handbags, Shera browsed the ready-to-wear section, carefully examining the season's latest arrivals, analyzing their cuts, color palettes, and intricate details.
Though high-end designer pieces rarely strayed from classic silhouettes, the subtle adjustments—the curve of a neckline, the exact placement of a waist-cinch—often revealed where the market trends were heading.
Shera was looking down when she noticed someone approaching. She was about to step aside when the person called out to her.
“Well, well, if it isn't Mrs. Hayes!”
Shera froze. She glanced over her shoulder to check if anyone else was there, then hesitantly pointed at herself.
“Are you talking to me?”
The man standing across from her was tall and lean, dressed in a laid-back, high-end streetwear brand that gave him an effortless vibe. He had pale skin, a mop of deliberately messy blond hair, and was beaming at her.
“Sure am. I only caught a glimpse of you from a distance last time, but I could tell you had an incredible presence. Seeing you up close, you’re absolutely stunning.”
Calling her Mrs. Hayes? Was he a friend of Caden's? She had zero memory of him.
She couldn't believe Caden actually had a friend this smooth-talking.
Still, she nodded politely. “Hello.”
“I’m Solomon Spencer. You can just call me Solomon.”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Spencer.” Shera was almost absurdly formal.
Solomon laughed. “Last time, I told Caden to bring you upstairs so we could all hang out, but you guys disappeared before I even blinked.”
Shera was drawing a blank. Even though she couldn't remember when this supposed meeting happened, it was safest to just play along. “Oh, right. I had some personal matters to attend to that day, so we had to leave early.”
“Ah, makes sense. I thought you had just had a bit too much to drink.”
Too much to drink?
The completely random comment made Shera’s mouth twitch slightly.
Solomon was clearly the overly familiar type who could strike up an enthusiastic conversation with a brick wall. Shera was stuck awkwardly nodding along.
