The next afternoon, Lawrence actually cleared his schedule.

When Xavier heard the directive, he was stunned into silence for several seconds.

"Mr. Langford, your three o'clock meeting with Horton Health Systems..."

"Push it to tomorrow."

"But their Chairman is already on his way."

Lawrence looked up.

Xavier immediately bowed his head. "I'll coordinate it immediately."

Having worked for Lawrence for so many years, he rarely ever saw his boss alter his business itinerary for personal matters.

More precisely, for his son.

In the past, whether it was Leo's school sports day, parent-child events, or extracurricular recitals, Lawrence had almost always sent Wren. Even on the rare occasions Wren reminded him that Leo really hoped his dad would show up, Lawrence had only ever replied flatly, "I don't have time."

Over the years, everyone had simply gotten used to it.

For the child of the Langford family, having a mother present was enough.

A father being too busy was considered an absolute given.

At two in the afternoon, Lawrence returned to the Langford estate.

Leo was sprawling on the living room rug, flipping through a book.

It was the aerospace encyclopedia Wren had brought over yesterday. The pages were open, and the colorful sticky tabs she had picked out for him were laid out neatly beside it.

Lawrence walked over.

"I'm taking you out this afternoon."

Leo looked up, his eyes lighting up. "Where to?"

Lawrence froze.

He hadn't actually figured that out yet.

The entire concept of father-son bonding was so foreign to him it was almost absurd.

He knew Leo was six years old, he knew the boy loved space, and he knew he hated green peppers.

Anything beyond that was just a blur.

He didn't even know where Leo usually liked to go on weekends.

In the past, Wren had arranged all of these things.

She would check the weather in advance, book the tickets, pack his water bottle and jacket, and double-check if Leo had his allergy spray before they ever stepped out the door.

Lawrence never had to worry about a single detail.

He only had to nod occasionally and say, 'Got it.'

Leo was still waiting for an answer.

Lawrence pulled out his phone and searched for kid-friendly spots nearby.

After typing in the word 'aerospace,' a local space and science museum popped up.

He said flatly, "The science museum."

Leo instantly cheered up. "Mom said she was going to take me to the new space exhibit, but we never got the chance to go!"
