Willow followed right behind him.

Inside the VIP suite, Gavin Shaw and the rest of his crew were already drinking.

Seeing Willow walk in, Gavin flashed a loaded smirk. "Willow's here too? Lawrence, you really can't let her out of your sight tonight, huh?"

Willow flushed, keeping her voice timid. "Don't joke like that, Gavin. I just came to help Lawrence discuss the charity project."

"Discussing charity? At The Sapphire Club?" Gavin chuckled.

Lawrence shot him a warning glare.

Gavin wisely raised his glass in surrender. "Alright, alright, my lips are sealed."

But the knowing smirk on his face told everyone exactly what was going on.

Willow sat primly beside Lawrence, hands folded neatly in her lap, playing the part of the innocent girl completely out of her element in a place like this.

But Lawrence knew full well she was far from innocent.

He also knew he shouldn't have brought her here.

But watching Wren on that stage tonight, acting like she had been reborn, had completely unhinged him.

The total loss of control was tearing him apart.

He needed to prove to himself that someone still hung on his every word, someone who would shatter from a single harsh glance, someone who worshipped his attention as an absolute privilege.

Willow was that someone.

She relied on him.

She worshipped him.

She reminded him that he was still the one holding all the cards.

After a few rounds of expensive bourbon, half the room had tactfully made themselves scarce.

Willow had taken a few sips of wine, her cheeks flushed with a delicate heat.

Lawrence glanced at her. "Don't drink if you can't handle it."

"I just wanted to keep you company," Willow whispered.

Lawrence's gaze darkened significantly.

"Company for what?"

Willow looked up at him, her eyes wide and glossy.

"For when you're happy, and when you're not."

It was the perfect, manipulative line.

Lawrence instantly pictured Wren's face tonight, the way she had coolly stated she just wanted herself.

Wren was cutting him out of her life.

And Willow was throwing herself into his arms.

Lawrence slammed his glass down and stood up.

"Let's go."

Willow's heart skipped a beat.

"Where are we going?"

"The apartment I bought for you."

She immediately knew what he meant.

A fierce blush rushed over her face.

But she didn't utter a word of protest.

By the time his sleek black sedan pulled up to Riverview Heights, it was well past midnight.

The penthouse was brand new, boasting massive floor-to-ceiling windows with sweeping views of the river.

Willow stood in the center of the massive living room, her voice trembling.

"You're really giving this to me?"

Lawrence dropped the heavy set of keys directly into her palm.

"Live here if you like it."

Willow clutched the keys, tears springing to her eyes.

"Lawrence, you treat me so perfectly. I'm going to start taking it seriously."

Lawrence stared down at her.

"Then take it seriously."

Those words struck like a match, setting the greedy spark in Willow's eyes ablaze.

She closed the distance, wrapping her arms tightly around his waist.

"I don't want to just be someone you manage anymore."

Lawrence looked down at her.

"Willow, don't get greedy."

Willow tilted her head up, a single tear slipping down her cheek.
