Anthony’s expression was hard and cold. Lydia glanced at Isabelle before reluctantly walking out.
Anthony watched her leave, then turned back to Damian. “I was never with your wife. She came back to me later and kept trying to reconnect for a long time I never agreed. With only Diana and Isabelle as female friends around, and Diana being in a relationship, Tused your wife’s name as a shield back then. I’m sorry for the trouble it’s causing now.”
“It’s fine,” Damian said, understanding the situation immediately.
Isabelle let out a quiet sigh of relief, Good–otherwise, she’d be walking on eggshells all night.
Anthony walked out, and Isadiana Studio fell into a heavy silence.
“Some people, honestly,” Diana muttered under her breath before tactfully excusing herself from the room.
“Still busy?” Damian asked, his voice softening as he turned his attention back to Isabelle.
“Not really, just about finished for the day,” Isabelle said, slipping her arm around his.
Damian gently patted her shoulder. “What do you feel like eating tonight?”
“You’re cooking?”
“Yeah,” Damian replied with a slight smile.
It was rare for him to be home this ex
That evening, Damian prepared a few of Isabelle’s favorite dishes.
Over dinner, Isabelle asked, “Why did Anthony’s ex suddenly show up again after all this time?”
Coming back to make a scene when she no longer had any claim–it felt utterly classless.
“Lydia was pregnant once, but it’s unclear if the child was Anthony’s. He might still carry some guilt about that period, which is why he sometimes hesitates to be firm with her.”
“She was pregnant?”
“She didn’t keep it.”
Isabelle instinctively rested a hand on her own stomach. “That must have been devastating for her.”
No wonder Lydia harbored so much resentment toward her.
Damian gently ruffled her hair. “Don’t overthink it
For the next several days, Anthony didn’t show up at the studio. Daisy came by every day hoping to catch him, but kept missing.
He hadn’t even accepted her WhatsApp friend request.
Daisy finally got the message that some people were simply unreachable, and she stopped coming by. She took the cleaned suit.

back with her.
To Isabelle and the others it seemed Anthony was deliberately keeping his distance
Even though the misunderstanding had been cleared up, he didn’t want to risk fueling further speculation, so he chose to stay away.
The studio carried on as usual, as if little had changed.
Damian had invited him out for meals or drinks a few times, but Anthony always declined. It was as if he’d never really been part of the city’s rhythm at all.
Isabelle and Diana couldn’t help but feel a pang of sadness.
Anthony was such a good person, worn down by life to this state.
Now, even his last refuge of peace seemed to have vanished.
One right around midnight, Damian received a call from Jonathan–Christian had been rushed to the hospital again.
Isabelle woke when Damian got out of bed. Hearing her grandfather was hospitalized, how could she not be worried? “I’ll go check the situation first. Try to get some more rest–there might not be much you can do at the hospital right now.” “I’m coming with you,” she insisted. Even staying at home, she wouldn’t be able to sleep alone.
He hesitated only a moment. “Alright.”
Damian went to the closet, grabbed an extra ceat for her, tucked some snacks into its pocket, and they headed out together.
At the hospital, Christian was already in the emergency room.
Outside stood the Tucker family, along with Caroline.
“What happened?” Damian asked, his voice low and steady.
Jonathan’s jaw was tight. “A cerebral hemorrhage.”
A brain bleed could be minor or catastrophic.
How had this happened so suddenly in the middle of the night?
Sophia shot a sharp look at Isabelle before turning away.
Isabelle noticed but chose to ignore it, directing her question to Jonathan. “What did Grandpa do last night? Was there anything unusual?”
“Nothing out of the ordinary. We all chatted for a while as usual, then everyone went to rest,” Jonathan said.
“Jonathan, was it really just chatting“?” Caroline’s usually composed voice trembled “The housekeeper told me that after everyone else was asleep, Sophia went into his room again. She came out seeming fine, but that doesn’t explain why he collapsed hours later!”
Tears now streamed down Caroline’s face. She could no longer hold back, tearing through the fragile layer of pretense that had

barely held the family together.
Hearing this, Isabelle warried Carolipe might become too distraught. She moved to her side and took her hand.
Damian stayed close to Isabelle, already piecing together what likely transpired.
“Mom, what exactly happened../?” Isabelle asked softly.
Caroline choked on her words and couldn’t continue.

Sophia suddenly flared up, stepping forward. “Who do you think you are?! We’ve been the ones taking care of Grandpa and holding this family together all along. You’re just someone who showed up out of nowhere”
“Smack!”
Camellia, unable to restrain her daughter any longer, slapped Sophia hard enough to cut off the rest of her sentence.
“Stay out of the adults‘ conversation!” Camellia hissed, pulling her back.
Eric stared coldly at Sophia. “What did you say to your grandfather?”
Sophia clutched her stinging cheek, tears falling rapidly. “What could I have possibly said?! I was just talking to him normally!”
“Nothing happened when anyone else went in to see him–why was it different with you? Do you think we’re all making this up?!” Caroline’s voice wasn’t loud, but each word felt like a twist of the knife to Camellia.
“This is our home too. We haven’t been back, and we never returned to fight over anything,” Isabelle began, but Caroline gently tugged her back, a silent plea to let it go for now.
