The Alpha's Unclaimed Mate novel Chapter 562

Chapter 562: Mamma Mia! Here We Dad Again

Serena could feel it through their matebond. The emotions flooding from Fin’s chest into hers were so layered and so compressed that separating them was trying to untangle a knot made of wire.

Anger. Hurt. Betrayal. Grief. Jealousy. Something that might have been guilt and something that might have been recognition and something underneath all of it that was old enough to predate language and had been sitting in Finnick Shadowclaw’s chest long before he had the name to give it.

She tried to push calm into him through their matebond. A deliberate, steady pulse of reassurance, the way he had done for her a hundred times. In the bath. On the floor. In every moment where her world was falling apart and his calm was the only thing holding the pieces together.

Mistake.

The calm did not take.

Anger flooded back through the matebond so fast it hit her sternum like a fist. She wasn’t sure if the anger was solely at her or at the situation.

At a system that handed three Alphas the same woman and was essentially telling them to sort it out without a manual.

Serena stared at the fire. She did not try again. The trying would make it worse. Fin’s anger was the kind that needed to burn through its fuel and reach its own end, and her interference was not fuel but it wasn’t water either, and the best thing she could do right now was stand inside his arm and let the matebond carry whatever it carried without her editing the transmission.

The flame brightened.

"And what else do we have here."

The tone flipped from roast mode to full-on genuflecting, like someone hit the emergency freeze button.

"Incarnate of the First Dragon Queen. Incarnate of the First Queen of Wolves. Fallen from slave to queen in every life. Adopted daughter of the first King of Fae in her first. Adopted by the Last Moonveil King in her second. Adopted by two kings in her third, the Frostborne King and now the Wise King."

All of Fin’s emotions became muffled to Serena because at the moment, she was having her own crisis. The word ’adopted’ hit her like a wall of ice water.

Not Tiberon. She was touched about that.

But the Frostborne King. Her father. The man who held her when she was small, who named her his heir, who stood between her and Orosia and refused to move. Twelve years of bedtime stories and morning training and the quiet, steady presence of a man she believed she came from.

She thought she was the product of chosen love. A mother and father who picked each other and made her on purpose. That was the foundation. That was the floor she had built every version of herself on top of.

The floor was gone.

Her pink magic flared, reacting to her emotions. She hadn’t noticed her eyes and skin glowing pink or the distress signal it was sending out like a beacon.

Gavriel’s green magic answered immediately on its own like it had been programmed to do this in another life and didn’t need Gavriel’s input.

Them lighting up was like chucking a lit match into the open gas can that was Finnick Shadowclaw’s soul, and the anger detonated through their matebond like an atomic bomb fucking the apocalypse sideways.

The green wrapped around the pink and held it, forming a barrier between them that Fin could absolutely feel and the wolf behind his ribs stopped snarling and started roaring. Serena gasped.

"Moon Princess. Daughter of the Moon Goddess. Carved in her image. The sole living white wolf and gold blood. You are alive."

"A surprise."

"Ah yes. We see now why. We see all."

"The white wolf saved the Gamma’s life."
