"What are you two whispering about over here?"
The fish were nearly sold out, and Claire and Jenny were still chatting idly.
Worried that Jenny would catch a cold in the chilling wind, Edison couldn't help but walk over.
"We were talking about blind dates—" Jenny accidentally let it slip.
Edison blinked. "Who's going on a blind date?"
Jenny instinctively glanced at Claire, silently asking if this was something she could share.
Claire shot a look in Dewitt's direction, and Edison immediately understood.
He found it highly amusing. "I just got married, and they're already setting Dewitt up."
"I've experienced it firsthand in past years. Before I even made it home, the line of potential matches was already out the door."
"It's finally Dewitt's turn this year."
For some reason, Claire felt like Edison was gloating just a little bit.
"Dewitt's situation should be a bit different from yours," Claire felt the need to point out.
Edison paused. "...You're right."
Pearce and Patti were relatively open-minded, whereas the old lady in his family had been absolutely adamant about him getting married and having kids.
She pressured him every single year, and you simply couldn't reason with an elderly woman.
Seeing her cry in heartbreak was always too much to bear.
Because of that, Edison rarely came back in previous years outside of the holidays.
The moment he returned, the old lady would inevitably orchestrate a marathon of blind dates.
Even during the New Year, Edison would only stay for two days before making a quick escape to avoid the endless setups.
Fortunately, he had met Jenny.
And decided to walk down the aisle with her.
Now, the old lady had finally stopped nagging him.
Edison couldn't help but shoot Dewitt a look of pure sympathy.
Was Dewitt going to be subjected to daily blind dates during the holidays?
In reality, it wasn't quite that extreme.
The festive spirit was strong in the James Village; every household had collected their fish and started cooking.
Back at Claire's place, no one really knew their way around a kitchen, so they joined Pearce's family for dinner.
