Chapter 838

“Raarh!”

The half-headed zombie lurched toward Hayley, stumbling as it charged.

Hayley kicked the door open and stepped out. She didn’t even try to dodge.

A saber appeared in her hand. She lifted it and brought it straight down.

She didn’t go for the neck or split the skull the way she usually did. Instead, she followed the line where its head had already been hacked open and added a clean, precise slice.

The blade slipped through the zombie’s scalp like it was nothing. Pure force carried it through bone, through the mushy, rotted brain, through the upper jaw, the tongue, the lower jaw, the torn throat.

The entire side of its head peeled open like soft tofu under a kitchen knife.

A crystal core dropped out.

Tap.

The green zombie lost all motion and collapsed. Dark red and black sludge spread across the ground. Its bulging eyes stayed fixed on Hayley, lifeless but wide open.

Too bad.

It didn’t even get a last bite before it died.

Hayley didn’t relax for a second.

“Raarh! Raarh!”

Seven or eight zombies staggered out of the station, rushing her.

Hayley hooked her foot under the corpse she had just dropped and kicked it hard. The body slammed into the oncoming zombies and sent them crashing back.

“Stay in the car. Wait for my signal,” she said without turning.

“Got it!”

June and the others nodded so fast it was almost comical, eyes shining with excitement.

“Griffin, with me.

Hayley called him and charged straight into the station, blade in hand.

Her strikes were fast, but she was faster. She cut her way through, step by step, carving a path as she pushed forward.

In seconds, she broke out on the other side.

From inside the vehicle, everyone watched without blinking.

“Hayley’s the strongest person I’ve ever seen!” June said, awe in her voice.

“She’s insane,” Zach added, just as stunned.

“She’s so cool!” Fiona said.

“Hard to argue with that.” Spencer nodded.

Ben stared at Hayley cutting through the swarm, eyes locked.

“The ones out there have to be normal zombies. Not evolved,” he said.

Everyone turned to look at him.

“Otherwise, there’s no way she could get through that so easily.” He nodded to himself, sounding more convinced by the second. “Once they evolve, their skin and bones harden. You can’t kill them that fast.”

The others looked at him like he had lost his mind.

June snorted. “That’s nothing. Last time, Hayley ran straight into a massive swarm and pulled all of us out by herself. There was a giant zombie, too. She dropped it in one hit. What you just saw? That was just a warm-up.”

“Yeah, right! You think I’m an idiot?” Ben scoffed. “One hit on a giant zombie? You’re really going all out with the stories.”

“We all saw it,” Zach cut in. “She went into an underground mall alone to rescue us. When we got out, we were surrounded by a swarm and a giant. When she unleashed her fire ability, it looked like the sun dropped right in front of us. My sister’s flames are not even close.”

‘Come on, that’s getting ridiculous!” Ben shook his head. “Clark uses fire, too. He’s the strongest at Clark Base. One full burst from him can throw up a wall of flames. You’re telling me she’s stronger than him? If you’re gonna make things up, at least pick something rare. Don’t try to fool me with fire. I know that one better than anyone.”
