Hearing the news, Stella immediately joined the staff in searching for the cat.
Meanwhile, Leonard pulled up the cafe's security footage to see exactly when it had slipped out.
Reviewing the cameras, he realized Calico had bolted from the shop over ten minutes ago.
His expression darkening, Leonard took out his phone and called his assistant, instructing him to pull the street camera footage.
The footage showed the calico cat chasing a butterfly down the sidewalk, turning a corner, and disappearing from view.
A few minutes later, Leonard stared coldly at the screen as a familiar figure grabbed Calico by the scruff of its neck, tossed it into a car, and drove away.
Joshua had taken the cat!
Seeing this, Leonard's blood boiled.
Back then, Joshua had nearly strangled Calico to death.
Now that the cat had practically thrown itself into his path, what twisted things would he do to it?
Stella had seen the footage too.
Catching the dangerous tension in Leonard's jaw, she instinctively said, "Joshua wouldn't abuse Calico..."
Leonard's voice was sharp. "Right, he wouldn't abuse it. He'd just strangle it on the spot."
"..."
Stella remembered the incident where Joshua had almost choked the poor animal.
She knew full well Joshua harbored zero affection for the cat.
He had always held a bitter grudge over the fact that Leonard, using his alias 'L', had chatted with her for so long and ultimately adopted her cat.
Trying to ease the tension, she reasoned, "He's lost his memories of the past. He might not do anything to it."
Leonard cast a dark, downward glance at her.
From the very beginning, she was constantly making excuses for Joshua.
Even if Joshua actually strangled Calico to death, Stella would probably still argue that he didn't do it on purpose.
In her heart, Joshua was more important than anything else—let alone a cat.
Seeing the dimming light in Leonard's eyes, Stella quickly offered, "He might not even know whose cat it is. He hasn't been gone long. I'll call him."
She pulled out her phone, ready to dial his number.
Leonard interrupted her. "I'm the owner. I should be the one to call him."

The same rotation blaming Stella trying to get her destroyed. Isn't the writer tired of writing the same foolishness overand over again? This is exhausting....
Can’t wait to see what joshua will do...
Why would the author of this book do that to Stella? Such cruelty!...
So many chapters are incomplete. Missing pages. Hard to get continuity...
