Elena was busy blowing softly on her swollen red palm, trying desperately to ease the stinging pain.
She wasn't entirely focused on Sterling's brutal assault on the drunkard.
Being drunk wasn't a free pass for committing crimes. Between harassing Lydia and trying to smash someone's skull in with a bottle, the guy had thoroughly earned this beating.
Suddenly called out by Sasha, Elena winced through the pain and finally threw a glance at the young man.
Sterling was showing zero mercy. Even though the man had passed out, he refused to pull his punches.
The man's face was an unrecognizable, bloody pulp, looking absolutely horrifying.
It was true; she couldn't let Sterling keep this up.
If he actually killed the guy, his family's wealth could undoubtedly sweep it under the rug.
But having a murder on his hands was definitely not ideal.
The problem was... if even Lydia couldn't stop him, did she really stand a chance?
Despite her hesitation, Elena bit the bullet and stepped forward.
Whatever, she had to at least put on a show. She was technically his "girlfriend" right now, after all.
"Sterls, stop hitting him... Ah!"
Just as she took her first step, a sudden chill hit her lower half, and her feet tangled up in something.
With a loud yelp, she plunged straight toward the floor.
Hearing her cry, Sterling instantly dropped the unconscious man, spun around, and caught her mid-fall.
"What is the rush?"
He scowled, his face dark as he immediately scolded her.
Elena looked completely mortified, struggling to get the words out as if it were the most humiliating thing in the world. "Um... I wasn't rushing... my pants fell down..."
Her voice was tiny. Because he was breathing heavily from the fight and his hands were coated in blood, he hadn't quite caught what she said.
Reflexively, she looked over, realizing that both Lydia and Sasha were staring dead at her.
She let out a highly awkward laugh. "See? Do you believe me now? I really do need a pair of pants. His pants are way too big!"
Sasha looked completely flabbergasted, begrudgingly admitting that maybe the girl wasn't just showing off earlier. She actually needed the clothes.
However, the fact remained that she was wearing Sterling's shirt and pants, proving they were intimately involved.
And since that was a fact, she was still doing Lydia dirty!
With a cold scoff, Sasha refused to respond.
Lydia's gaze, however, slowly drifted down to rest on the arm Sterling had wrapped securely around Elena's waist.
Just minutes ago, she had hugged him for the very first time, practically begging him to hold her back.
He hadn't. He hadn't even turned around.
Yet, when it came to Elena, his physical touch was so incredibly natural, intimate, and effortless.
