I turned to him. Unfortunately for Lucas, Mason had already told me exactly what he’d done with that credit card last month.
“Not after I tell him what you spent.”
Lucas sat forward. “We’re brothers. Don’t do anything you’ll regret.”
Mason lowered the ice pack, looking far too satisfied with himself.
“Twenty-three thousand dollars in one weekend,” I reminded Lucas.
“There were a lot of us.”
I opened Dad’s contact, and Lucas came off the sofa to grab the phone before I could make the call. I raised it beyond his reach.
“You’re twenty-eight years old. Why are you still a fucking snitch?”
“You spent twenty-three thousand dollars in forty-eight hours.”
“It was my birthday.”
“Your birthday was in June.”
“I was celebrating late.”
Mason laughed, but the sound disappeared the moment Lucas turned toward him.
“Keep laughing. I’ll tell him what you bought.”
The sudden change in Mason’s expression pulled my attention away from the phone. “What did he buy?”
“Nothing,” he answered a little too quickly.
Lucas’s concern about his own situation vanished. “Oh, no. Let’s talk about Mason.”
“Lucas,” Mason warned.
“You want to judge my spending? Fine. Tell Zane how much you paid for-
Mason launched himself across the sofa before the number could come out.
Lucas barely saved the cereal bowl as his brother crashed into him, and within seconds they were wrestling across the cushions, Mason trying to shut him up while Lucas fought to get him off.
Their struggle knocked into the side table. The lamp tipped, and I caught it before it could hit the floor.
“Enough.”
Neither listened, and when Mason managed to pin Lucas against the cushions, I finally grabbed the back of his shirt and hauled him off. Lucas tried to come after him, but one hand against his chest stopped that.
