The Perfect Wife's Perfect Revenge novel Chapter 943

Leonie looked as though her very soul had been hollowed out. She was completely disconnected from reality, oblivious to Gwyneth and Connor's voices. She only chanted for her parents, entirely unreachable. The doctor's warning echoed in Gwyneth's mind—if Leonie didn't snap out of this soon, she would slip into a permanent psychiatric break. If that happened, they would have no choice but to transfer her to a specialized mental health facility.

Gwyneth couldn't stomach that reality. She had pressed the doctor for alternative options, but he had offered none. They could only try to soothe her and wait.

As the medical staff cleared out, Gwyneth felt an uneasy flutter in her abdomen. Whenever her stress levels spiked, the twins became restless, kicking against her ribs. Taking a deep breath, she reached out and gently covered Leonie's restrained hand with her own. She noticed Leonie's eyes shift and, hoping for a flicker of lucidity, whispered her name.

Instead, Leonie stared blankly at Connor and mumbled, "Dad, I want to go home. Can we go back? I need to see Mom. She promised to take me shopping today. She said she'd buy me everything I wanted. Can we go see her?"

Connor's jaw clenched so hard a muscle ticked in his cheek. He realized she wasn't recovering at all; she was sinking deeper into her delusions. He spun on his heel and headed for the door.

"Connor, where are you going?" Gwyneth called out.

Connor's voice was lethal. "I'm going to drag Dorian's body out of that freezer and leave it to rot in the dirt."

Connor had been digging deep over the past few days. The underground club Sully owned had been shuttered, and the man himself had vanished. While Sully hadn't directly pulled the trigger, Dorian's death was tied directly to him. As for Felicia, she had ghosted completely, but Connor was already turning the city upside down looking for her.

Gwyneth nodded. "Sully owned the club where Dorian worked. I think he was the one who introduced Dorian to Felicia. Leonie told me Dorian wanted out, which cost Sully a lot of money. Sully demanded half a million dollars to let him walk. I don't know exactly how things escalated to this point, but finding Sully is our best shot at getting the whole story."

Connor's mind sharpened with focus. On the bed, Leonie drifted between fitful sleep and waking nightmares, looking painfully frail. Layne was buried under the crushing weight of organizing the funeral arrangements and fending off the vultures in the Everhart family. He had no idea Leonie had been hospitalized, and Gwyneth decided to keep it that way. She sent Layne a brief text saying they were safe, allowing him to focus entirely on putting his parents to rest without the added heartbreak of seeing his sister in restraints.
