Life moves forward in a brilliant, beautiful blur. Tara's stomach grows rounder by the day, signaling the imminent arrival of their baby. By her seventh month, a wave of fantastic news sweeps through their social circle.
Aunt Zoey safely delivers a healthy baby boy. Soon after, Alec and Tricia officially announce their engagement. And just as they joked, Bianca turns up pregnant. Unlike Tara, Bianca is a miracle of modern pregnancy—zero nausea, an endless appetite, and enough energy to run a marathon.
Tara, on the other hand, is dragged through hell. She assumed her morning sickness would fade after the first trimester, but the violent nausea clings to her until the seventh month, leaving her utterly exhausted. Because of her brutal symptoms, she and Danny decide to indefinitely postpone the wedding, planning to celebrate properly once her body recovers. Honestly, Tara would be perfectly happy skipping the massive gala and just eloping on a private island. Danny, entirely devoted to her comfort, agrees to whatever she wants.
"Why are you obsessed with organizing that nursery? And why did you buy so many pink dresses? What if it's a boy?" Tara asks, watching from the doorway in mild exasperation.
Danny is currently fussing over a stack of tiny, pastel-pink lace dresses, meticulously folding them before adjusting the plush pink toys lining the crib. The entire room looks like it was aggressively decorated by a fairy godmother. He never gets tired of tweaking the layout.
They both agreed to keep the gender a surprise, enjoying the suspense. Technically, Tara could easily check her own pulse and figure it out, but she resists the urge, playing along for Danny's sake.
"My sixth sense is flawless. It is absolutely going to be a gorgeous, perfect little girl who looks exactly like you," Danny beams, walking over and carefully wrapping his arms around her. He buries his face in her neck, nuzzling her like a massive, affectionate golden retriever.
For months, Danny has treated her like fragile porcelain. He sleeps completely still to avoid bumping her, and their physical intimacy has been put on a strict, agonizing hold. He is practically crawling out of his skin with pent-up tension. But with the baby due any day now, his frustration is entirely eclipsed by a frantic, breathless anticipation.
"And what if your magic intuition is wrong?" Tara challenges, raising an eyebrow.
