Chapter 179 New Chapter in Life
In Klamdiff International Airport, at the security checkpoint, Brianna crouched down and pulled Kendra into her arms.
She kissed the top of Kendra’s head, then gently kissed the damp corner of her eye. Her tears fell onto Kendra’s hand, stinging with warmth.
“Sweetheart, I have to go now. Be good and listen to your dad,” Brianna said softly.
She stood up, not daring to look back. ‘If I turn around, I might never be able to leave, Brianna thought.
Kendra’s cries were like knives, cutting into Brianna’s back with every sob. “Mommy-”
It wasn’t until Brianna’s figure vanished around the glass corner that Kendra finally threw herself into Brandon’s arms, sobbing so hard she could barely breathe.
“Daddy, will Mommy come back?” Kendra asked.
Brandon crouched down, gently wiping the tears from Kendra’s face. His voice was hoarse but firm. “Yes. Once I finish what I need to do, I’ll take you to find her.”
He looked up, his bloodshot eyes locked on the end of the security lane, strung tight with tension, like a drawn bow.
As the boarding announcement echoed through the airport, Brandon hugged Kendra tightly, making a silent vow in his heart. ‘Even if I have to go to the ends of the earth, I’ll personally bring her back.
‘Brianna, I’ll come to you, step by step. If you won’t forgive me, I’ll rent the place next door, bring you flowers, cook for you, clean your house-every single day-until you finally turn back to me,’
He lowered his head and kissed the top of Kendra’s head, his voice soft as a sigh but filled with stubborn determination. “Daddy promises you, I’ll bring Mommy back.”
The pale, gray daylight filtered through the airport’s domed glass, illuminating his determined profile. It was like enduring a slow-burning trial. At last, he was willing to bow his head, let himself be reduced to ashes, just to lay his true heart bare for her.
Ten minutes before takeoff, Brianna rested by the window and checked her phone one last time.
The cold white glow reflected off her blank face, giving her features an icy sheen.
Clair said: [Hey, Brianna, I’m waiting for you at Romara Airport.]
Her fingers flew across the screen: [Thanks for waiting, Clair. See you tomorrow.]
Just as she was about to power off her phone, a new message chimed in.
Tristan said: [No matter where you are, I’ll find you.]

In that moment, the runway lights outside the window sped by, and the plane shuddered slightly. It felt like fate was sending a warning.
Brianna narrowed her eyes, slid the message and its vibration out of her notifications, and sent back a playful jab: [That move won’t win you any girls.]
Then she pressed and held the power button, and the cabin slipped into a silence.
She washed up, made her bed, and slipped on her sleep mask-all done with quick, practiced motions. Snuggled under the first-class wool blanket up to her chin, she opened her book; the sound of the pages was as gentle as falling snow.
As sleep swept over her, she didn’t even give herself a chance to dream; she simply drifted off, sinking into a sea of silence.
When she opened her eyes again, the cabin was still dim, with only the cool white glow from the reading lamp overhead.
There was a pink and purple flower basket on the tray table-the colors she liked best.
‘Did he s thinkin

p?’ Brianna wondered, hesitating for a split second. Then she gave herself a wry smile, e usual airline courtesy.
ack from the bathroom, Brianna felt a restless sadness settle in her chest. Sleep was out of the
dly playing with the flower basket, but then noticed a card tucked inside-the handwriting was so almost stung. [The scent of these flowers fills the air, just like my endless longing for you, always close.]
Tristan.
nna held the card, her fingers tightening until her knuckles went white. She let out a quiet, almost amused gh, then slid the basket back to the corner of the table, untouched.
Brianna lay awake, restless and unable to settle, but in the end, sleep finally claimed her once more.
It was still dark in the cabin, with only a mix of deep blue and faint light overhead. Dawn hadn’t even touched the windows yet.
The flight attendant came over with the breakfast menu, keeping her voice low. Brianna pointed at the flower basket in the corner. “Who put this here?”
“Wasn’t it yours?” The flight attendant looked genuinely confused.
Brianna just played it off, but her mind started to fog up. ‘Wait, is Tristan on this flight too?’ she thought.
She frowned instinctively. She’d come to Valeentia for some peace and quiet-not to be followed by anyone.
As soon as the flight attendant left, the curtain behind her was pulled aside. Before she even saw him, the familiar scent of
cco hit her, unmistakable and immediate.

“Did you sleep well last night?” Tristan’s voice was low and husky, still carrying the roughness of morning.
Brianna looked up. Tristan was bent over, his smiling eyes bright like the sun that hadn’t yet risen outside, but she felt none of its warmth.
“So it really is you.” She gave the flower basket a casual glance, her tone steady. “Isn’t it exhausting, chasing me all the way here?”
“I can’t help but worry about you, all alone in a foreign country,” Tristan said, his tone light, as if he just happened to catch the same flight.
Brianna’s lips curled into a faint smile, but it faded before it reached her eyes. “You sent the flowers?”
“Not just the flowers.”
Tristan turned sideways and crouched in the aisle, meeting her gaze, his eyes glimmering with gentle light. “Last night, while you were asleep, I checked on you three times.”
He pouted a little, sounding almost regretful. “You didn’t wake up once. I was worried you might get lonely all by yourself.”
“Lucky for you we know each other.” Brianna let out a short laugh, but her eyes stayed cold. “If you were a stranger, I’d probably have called the cops on you for stalking.”
As her words faded, she turned to gaze out the window at the brightening horizon, her face unreadable. ‘Whether it’s a sea of flowers or all the devotion in the world, nothing’s going to make me stay for anyone anymore,’ she thought.
The mist still lingered over Romara as the plane touched down.
Brianna dragged her suitcase along, the sea breeze hitting her with a mix of unfamiliar floral scents. She glanced at Tristan. “Which hotel did you book?”
Tristan pushed up his glasses, grinning like it was the most natural thing in the world. “Mind if I crash at your place?”
His voice was low and husky, laced with that familiar, easy affection.
Brianna pretended to fuss with her luggage, turning away to hide her flushed cheeks.
She looked up, deliberately putting on a tough act. “Do I look like I need your company? Just hurry up and head back home in a couple of days. Go do your own thing.”
Tristan just grinned, flashing a bit of white teeth, fearless like a kid who’s never afraid of anything. “Back then, when you wanted to marry Brandon, I couldn’t stop you. But now that you’ve finally broken free, there’s no way I’m letting you go this time.”
Brianna rolled her eyes, but her chest tightened with a bittersweet ache. ‘He always has a way of turning nonsense into something that sounds heartfelt, she thought.
As they talked, the luggage carousel clattered to life, spitting out their suitcases.

They walked side by side toward the exit, and at the edge of the crowd, a tall figure waved a bouquet of bright yellow daisies.
“Clair!” Brianna’s eyes sparkled as she ran over. Clair handed her the daisies, their scent fresh and crisp, just like the morning mist in Romara.
Tristan narrowed his eyes, his smile tightening up instantly.
Clair nodded at him, his voice smooth and warm. “Mr. Salazar, appreciate your effort.”
It was just a polite greeting, but Clair deliberately stressed “Mr. Salazar,” making the boundaries clear and marking his territory.
“No need for that! Brianna doesn’t bother with formalities with us. We’ll be working on the same project, so we’ll look out for each other,” Clair said, his smile cooling noticeably as soon as he saw Tristan, throwing in a jab to make sure he didn’t lose ground.
Tristan scoffed inwardly. ‘Good thing I tagged along!
