Too Late to Hold Me Back novel Chapter 1218

If Julian was telling the truth, a twelve-hundred-dollar monthly payment was a heavy burden for the working class, especially considering the current economic climate. Many people didn't even take home that much in a month.

"Alright. I'll transfer you fifteen thousand," Mira said. "If you live modestly, that should easily tide you over until you start earning a steady paycheck."

Fifteen thousand was equivalent to an average office worker's annual salary. As long as he didn't squander it, he could cover his monthly debts and survive for at least half a year.

"But let me finish. I'll lend you this money on one condition: you keep your mother in check. She is not to harass your father again."

"Deal. I'll handle her." Julian clenched his jaw with determination.

Mira immediately wired him the funds through Emerald Messenger. By now, the app was installed on nearly every smartphone across the globe.

In truth, Mira didn't expect to see a dime of that money again. But since he had promised to pay her back, she wasn't going to decline.

She couldn't let him develop a habit of relying on handouts.

If he proved to be a genuine, hardworking guy, she wouldn't mind helping him out further for Jordan's sake. But for now, he was still on probation. She had to keep her cards close to her chest.

The online tutoring platform was an initiative Mira had proposed, and Harvey Rivers had launched it. She held a twenty percent stake in the venture.

Based on Julian's attitude tonight, Mira was perfectly willing to pull a few strings to get his foot in the door.

...

Over a year ago, the poisoning incident orchestrated by Seraphina Quinn had taken a brutal toll on Grandma Eleanor. Though she had survived, her remaining time was severely cut short.

Mira and Jordan had initially estimated she had a year at most. Yet, as Mira's career skyrocketed and brought endless pride to the household, the smiles on Eleanor's face grew more frequent. Miraculously, her health began to stabilize.

Rachel immediately snapped her mouth shut, startled.

She had spoken barely above a breath. How on earth did that old man hear her?

But Mira knew better. The senses of a seasoned martial artist were sharp, and someone of Jordan's caliber never missed a beat.

Amidst the warm, teasing atmosphere of the living room, Mira's phone buzzed. It was Owen. "I just got intel," he said, his voice tight. "The international consortiums have banded together. They're making a move against the Mavarian Dollar's exchange rate."

Mira's initial reaction was sheer disbelief. "Attacking our currency? How could they even risk that?"

"Why wouldn't they? When billions are on the line, there's nothing they won't do."

"I know they're ruthless, but Mavaria isn't some fragile emerging market. We're a global economic powerhouse. It's not like the smaller nations they usually prey on.
