That got my attention.

My eyes snapped to him.

He didn’t notice the shift.
Or maybe he did and chose to ignore it.
“Lydia. Runs one of the top firms here. Brilliant woman. Honestly, if you’re dealing with any serious PR crisis, she’s the one people recommend.”
I said nothing.
Just watched him.
He kept going.
“I worked with her team once. The way she handled competing narratives? Insane. Three angles at once, all clean, all controlled. No panic. No noise.”
Yeah.
I know.
“You know her?” he asked casually.
That question sat between us.
For a second too long.
I could have answered in a hundred ways.
I chose the simplest one.
“Yes.”
He smiled.
“Not surprised. People at your level usually cross paths.”
Cross paths.
If only he knew.
Then another voice joined.
“Dave.”
