“Were you?”

“Do not sound so smug about it.”

I almost laughed. “I thought about what you said. About it being time.”

“Yes. I meant it. I am ready.”

“There is something I did not tell you,” I said. “I put two bodyguards on you. I needed to know you were

safe.”

She paused. “You did?”

“I was worried. But I also found out something yesterday that works in our favor. Julian has had someone following you. A private investigator. He has eyes on your movements.”

*Julian had me followed?” Her voice sharpened. “Are you serious?”

“Yes. But think about what that means. You want him to catch us in the act. And he already has eyes on you. All we need to do is set the stage. His man will report back to him and Julian will come running himself. Who knows? He might even bring Seraphine along.”

There was silence on her end while she worked through it.

“We could do this today,” I said. “If you are ready.”

“I thought the security situation was going to take more time.”

“We will talk about that when we see each other. The situation has changed. I will explain everything in
