Everything after that moment was a blur, a smear of color and sound that my brain refused to process in any coherent order. I remember screaming. I remember the guards at the gate, their hands on my chest, pushing me back, their voices telling me to leave, that I was not welcome here.

Every second I spent outside that gate was another second Dominic got to do whatever he pleased with my wife. The thought was a blade twisting in my chest, sharp and hot and relentless.
