Two Can Play (Celeste and Dominic) novel Chapter 61

Chapter 61

“I wanted to get a cab to take me back to my car. But someone drove past and splashed dirty water on me. It soaked my body and ruined my outfit. I felt so disgusted. I looked around and saw a small thrift store. I went in. That dress caught my eye and I bought it.

I was still famished. So, after changing, I was leaving when I noticed the small store also sold ice cream. I bought a cup. It was thick, creamy, and delicious. Or maybe I enjoyed it so much because I was just so hungry. I was exhausted and decided to forget everything else, return home, eat, and rest.”

1 let out a long sigh.

“I took a cab back home. The driver was a little rough, and that’s how some of the ice cream ended up on my dress. That is what stained my dress.”

I looked at Julian, then at Sera.

“Who would have thought I would return home, hoping for peace, only to be slapped, humiliated, and branded with ridiculous

accusations?”

I stood up. I faced Seraphine and let my voice go cold and even.

“If what you came to do in my house is to accuse me, then it is time for you to leave. You have overstayed your welcome.”

I turned to Julian and gave him the same look.

“Since you think the worst of me, then what are we even doing together? It would be better if we ended this marriage.”

His face went pale. “What?”

I snatched my phone from his hand and walked toward the bedroom.

“Celeste, wait,” he called after me.

“I am going to bed,” I replied without stopping or sparing him a glance.

“Let me heat up food for you,” he offered, his voice turning soft and careful.

I stopped at the door. “Forget it. I have lost my appetite.”

I walked into the bedroom and shut the door behind me.

I stood there for a moment, my back against the wood, listening to the silence had left behind. Then I letout a long breath and threw myself onto the bed.

My lips curved into a smile.

My mind went to Dominic. I thought about the way he had looked at me in the car. The way his hands had felt. The way his voice had sounded when he groaned my name.

I bit my lower lip and smiled again.

‘I wonder what he is doing right now.’
