Chapter 186
“What do you want?” Joseph asked.
Sebastien smiled.
“Give me full control of your pack and territories. I will allow you to live here. You can lead the pack under my control. Trust me; it
is a better deal than what I gave Malcolm of Ceenas,” Sebastien said.
Joseph did not have time to think cleanly. That was the worst part. He could not sit with it. Could not weigh ten/options. Could not
strategise properly. There was blood on the ground, and every heartbeat mattered. So he chose the only thing he could do in those
moments.
“Very well then,” Joseph said.
Sebastien smiled wider. Soon a man approached Joseph carrying a document. Joseph’s mind moved fast. Fast enough to catch one
narrow possibility.
He took the document and signed his father’s name. Cain McCloud. The man carried it back to Sebastien. Sebastien read it and
frowned.
“Your father’s name?” Sebastien asked.
Joseph nodded without hesitating.
“The pack was never legally transferred to Ethan, so we kept it that way to preserve his memory,” Joseph lied.
It was a lie. A dangerous one. Joseph knew the pack, territories, lands, and money were in Ethan’s name. He also knew it would take time before Sebastien could verify anything, and right now time was the only thing he could still steal. He needed that delay. Needed Sebastien to leave believing enough of the lie that Ethan could recover in peace and Joseph could figure out how to rebuild
with whatever trusted wolves remained.
So he lied cleanly and held steady. Sebastien scrutinised the document for a tense second. Then he nodded. Approval. He accepted
Sebastien left with Cynthia. The remaining wolves followed them off the grounds. The minute they were gone, Joseph exploded back
into motion.
“Get the van!” Joseph shouted.
He shouted it while rushing to his mother’s side. Adrenaline had no foom left for strategy now. Only rescue. Then, almost
impossibly, three ambulances arrived immediately. Joseph froze for half a second, stunned by the timing. It was as if they had been
waiting.
How did they know to come?

Chapter 186
Most people should have been heading for bunkers. The grounds should have been chaos and confusion. But these ambulances/came fast and direct. Then Beatrix exited the house in tears.
“I called them, Alpha,” Beatrix said.
Joseph relaxed just enough to breathe. Good. Good girl.
He wished, in that ugly moment, that the domestic staff were trained warriors. Seeing the attack for what it had been, Joseph knew Sebastien had information before he struck. Too much of it. Someone fed him timing and weakness and layout. The thought settled deeper even while he knelt near the injured.
He looked at Ashley and felt terrible for her. The irony of it almost hurt. She thought she had been reconnecting with a mentor.
Thought she was playing some silly dangerous game with a woman from her past. In truth she had been lied to the entire time.
Used. Led. Almost killed for it.
The ambulance team administered first aid quickly to the three injured and loaded them up. Joseph wore only shorts. Adam brought
the van around. All three of them were half-dressed, bloody, exhausted, and running on instinct more than thought now. There had
been no time for proper clothes. No time for anything except survival.
They followed the ambulances. There was no point pretending anymore. Not after this. Not after Ethan. Not after the sabotage. Not
after the attack. Joseph made the promise silently and savagely as they moved.
He would ensure Dr Rosenberg and Mark Louis paid for what they did to his brother. And now for what had been done to the pack
too.
