Dorrent spoke through the tight clamp of Jannah’s palm, his voice muffled against her skin. "Are you actually jealous, little physician? Does the mere mention of another woman from my past make you this desperate to silence me?"
"I am not jealous!" Jannah hissed. She kept her hand clamped rigidly over his mouth, her fingers trembling with indignation. "I told you, I am just sleepy. Your voice is annoying, and I want you out of my bed."
"Remove your hand," Dorrent murmured against her palm, the warm vibration of his lips sending an immediate, traitorous spark straight up her arm.
Jannah didn’t listen. She dug her heels in, tightening her grip m, determined to shut down his arrogant mouth before he could spin another maddening narrative.
Seeing her stubborn resistance, Dorrent didn’t argue further. Instead, his free hand shot out through the dark with terrifying precision, his fingers lightly but rapidly tickling the sensitive skin of her armpit.
"Ah!" Jannah gasped, her body flinching from the sudden, intense stimulation. She instantly let go of his mouth, her arms flying inward to protect herself as she began squirming frantically across the mattress. "Stop it! Let me go, Dorrent! Let me sleep and head back to your own room!"
Her squirming, however, proved to be a terrible mistake in her stark-naked state. As she thrashed against his frame, the full, soft weight of her breasts rubbed repeatedly and heavily against him.
Dorrent’s hand slammed down onto her waist, pinning her hips instantly to the mattress to halt her movements.
"Stop moving," Dorrent growled, his voice dropping into a warning. His eyes, though blind in the dark, felt intensely focused on her face. "Stop rubbing against me like this, Jannah... unless you want those gorgeous boobs of yours that are scraping against me worked on by my mouth right now. Because I swear to you, I am right on the edge of doing it."
Jannah froze entirely, her breath trapping itself in her throat. She could feel the scorching heat radiating from his frame, the static of his arousal pressing hard against her thigh. She let out a silent, bitter curse against his name, forcing her limbs to remain still, refusing to give his perverted mind another excuse to touch her.
The room settled back into silence, the air thick with the scent of her skin and his.
"There is nothing for you to be jealous about," Dorrent continued quietly, his voice returning to normal.
"I already told you, I am not jealous," Jannah insisted through her teeth, her eyes glaring into the obscurity where she knew his face was. "You are completely delusional, Alpha."
Dorrent ignored her protest, his hand remaining flat and warm against her waist. "Our relationship ended up badly. Tragically, in fact. That lady... she turned out to be after my money. Every single dynamic between us was a calculated transaction on her end. She went so far as to hire mercenaries to kidnap me, intending to force a multi-billion ransom out of my family."
He let out a short, cynical breath that sounded devoid of emotion. "It’s not that I am incapable of loving, Jannah. I can be the best lover this world has ever seen. But I have long forgotten about love, because the last time I allowed myself to feel it, it made me do completely crazy, irrational things. I did absolutely everything for that lady. I was so blinded that I intentionally oversaw every single glaring red flag—her excessive use of my black cards, the luxury items she constantly demanded, the endless list of material things she asked me to acquire for her. All she was ever after was materials."
In the heavy silence of the room, Jannah’s mind suddenly stalled.
Jannah felt her entire body heat up instantly, a sudden, blinding wave of heat pooling within her lower abdomen. Her internal walls gave a traitorous throb, her memory flashing back to the raw, intense rhythm of their encounters. She recalled with terrifying clarity the way he usually sank into her channel, filling her so deeply that it left her breathless, making her body secretly crave more even while her mind screamed in hatred. She loathed herself for the reaction, tightening her thighs together to hide the sudden moisture, refusing to ever let him know she wanted it.
"Dorrent, stop it," she gasped out, her voice losing its edge.
"And I will benefit from not only that," Dorrent continued, his voice softening into emotional frequency that made her heart skip a beat. His hand slowly slid from her waist, moving upward. "But also from winning your heart... and having kids with you."
"Stop dreaming," Jannah whispered fiercely, her defensive walls slamming back down as the memory of her lineage rushed into her mind. "I already told you weeks ago, Alpha—I will never have kids with you. My womb is completely locked to you. Conception requires me to give you my heart first, and that is something you will never possess."
Instead of answering, Dorrent’s hand completed its journey, trailing smoothly over her ribs until it rested flat against her flat stomach. The rough texture of his palm against her sensitive skin sent a tremor straight down her spine. He ran his hand across the smooth expanse of her belly in a slow circle, then leaned his head down, his lips practically brushing the shell of her ear as he spoke.
"How sure are you that you’re not pregnant at all right now, little physician?" Dorrent asked, his voice laced with a teasing gravity that made her blood run cold. "With the way you’ve been getting so intensely worried about me... checking my wounds, panicking when I bleed... maybe you’ve already fallen for me and you don’t even know it yet. Maybe your body has already unlocked itself for my seed."
Jannah panicked.
