Whats She Overheard in Her Own Marriage novel Chapter 485

Chapter 252T

Chase’s POV

After all these years, I couldn’t believe the secrets that my farmily had been keeping. When I first discovered that my uncle was actually alive and well, I honestly thought that he was the bad guy, and that was why he was living a dead man’s life off the grid, but the more he continues to talk, I’m starting to believe that I had it all wrong.

My father’s continuous hesitation told me that he was not fully disclosing what he knew, leading me to believe that he knew far more than he was letting onto. But the more his brother is pushing him to tell the truth, the more I can see he is back peddling, making me now wonder if my brothers and I have been living under the roof of a complete liar.

Honestly, the moment that I heard that he was with Jessica’s mother on the night that everything went down, it had me wondering if Mrs. Jacobs had been up to something all those years ago, and when her plan failed, she decided to try again by using Jessica.

Thinking back, I now could see how Jessica had influenced me to go against my father’s wishes and had isolated me from being with my brothers. Plus, there were many nights when Mrs. Jacobs had insisted that I stay longer, leading me to get my ass reamed out for not being there to help around the ranch.

Over the years, I guess I just got accustomed to being yelled at, that I just said the hell with it and didn’t give two shits what the consequences were, but now, I am thinking that I had been played, and I felt like a total fool. Now that my eyes were being opened, I could clearly see how vindicating Mrs. Jacobs truly was, as I now look back, realizing when her and her daughter sunk their claws into me.

It was shortly after my mother had passed, and back then, I honestly felt like Mrs. Jacobs was being sincere to me, knowing that I was struggling with my mother’s loss, but now, I truly believe that she preyed on me, knowing that my mother’s death had weakened me. Shit, maybe I was the weakest link when it came to me and my brothers, as I clearly was the one that allowed these bitches back into our family’s lives.

As they all continued to argue, I slumped down in one of the chairs in the room, feeling like I was the one responsible this time for everything that was happening. A part of me was furious with my father for keeping this information from us all, because I felt like if I had known what truly happened all those years ago, I wouldn’t have repeated what seemed to be the same damn mistakes. But now, it was too late, and the damage was already done, and here we all were at the Alpha Rogue King’s estate, lost on how to finally put a stop to it once and for all.

Literally, hours must have passed as my father and uncle went at it, with my brothers and Liam asking questions, trying to get the two of them to admit what truly happened all those years ago. But nothing they said or asked seemed to be working to get the two of them to come completely clean with us. Honestly, at this point, I didn’t know whose recollection of the past was true, or somewhat true, as neither of them could agree to disagree.
