Chapter 527
Chapter 527
Finnian was still in his business attire-a white shirt paired with a dark suit. His hair was slightly disheveled from the sea breeze. When his eyes landed on a shirtless Silas, his gaze narrowed dangerously.
A second later, he saw Kaia step qut of the bedroom holding a crisp white shirt. Finnian’s pupils dilated violently, as if he had just been stung.
“Kaia, what are you doing in his room?” Finnian’s voice was dangerously low, a sharp edge of interrogation lacing his words.
Kaia looked at him, then at Silas, before replying evenly, “He drank too much. I brought him back to his room. Is that a problem, Mr. Sanders?”
Finnian flinched as if he had been struck with a whip. He stood frozen in the doorway like a brick wall, his face a stormy mask of displeasure.
Kaia ignored his dark expression. She owed him zero explanations. Why was he looking at her like he had the right to judge her?
“Don’t blame Kaia… blame me,” Silas slurred, immediately jumping in to take the fall. “I shouldn’t have drank so much…”
Finnian glared at him sharply before turning back to Kaia. “I’ll take over You’ve been working all afternoon. You must be exhausted. Go get some
rest.”
“It’s fine,” Kaia said coolly. “I can handle it. He got drunk taking shots for me anyway.”
Silas chimed in, playing the innocent victim. “Kaia, no, it’s okay. You go rest… I can take care of myself. I’m fine.”
A sneer pulled at Finnian’s lips. Who is Silas putting on this act for?
But Kaia stood firm. “It’s dangerous to leave someone alone when they’re this drunk. I’ll stay.”
“Thank you, Dr. Chavez…” Silas flashed a boyish, utterly innocent smile.
Chapter 527
Finnian felt physically sick. Silas was baiting her so blatantly. Was Kaia truly that oblivious?
Or worse… was she enjoying the attention?
At dinner, Silas had bent over backward blocking drinks and speaking up for her. Meanwhile, as her ex-husband, Finnian had been stripped of all his rights and privileges, forced to sit there and watch in silence.
“Put your shirt on before you catch a cold,” Kaia said, handing the garment over.
It was obvious Silas kept himself in peak physical condition. His lean, sculpted torso radiated the raw, undeniable strength of a young man, practically oozing masculine appeal.
Kaia’s composure remained unwavering, but if any other woman had been standing there, she would have been staring.
Silas slipped the shirt on and began deliberately fastening the buttons, agonizingly slow. The smug look on his face made Finnian want to punch
him.
