Sylvia didn't argue. She marched upstairs to change.
But when she came back down fully dressed, Ashton casually remarked, "Who said I was letting you leave?"
Sylvia choked on her fury. "How long are you going to keep me locked up? I've been missing for a day and a night! What is Julian's family supposed to think? How am I supposed to face anyone ever again?"
Ashton met her gaze coolly. "You're going to be my wife. Why do you care what anyone else thinks?"
Sylvia's breath hitched. "I was literally about to marry someone else, and now you say this? Don't you think you're being utterly despicable?"
Back when she was madly in love with him, he hadn't even considered marrying her. Now that she was finally about to find her own happiness, he hijacked her wedding just to satisfy his wounded pride. Just how selfish could one man be?
"Stop crying."
Ashton watched the tears slip down her face and reached out to wipe them away. Sylvia violently jerked her head aside.
Ashton's fingers curled into a fist. "I'm sorry," he murmured, his voice dropping low. He pulled her into a tight embrace. "I was wrong in the past. I ignored your feelings."
Sylvia stood rigid. "Let me go."
Ashton didn't even hesitate. "No."
Sylvia tore herself out of his arms and stomped aggressively down the stairs. Ashton didn't follow, nor did he try to stop her.
When she reached the front door, she found imposing security guards blocking the exit, refusing to let her pass.
No wonder Ashton hadn't panicked when she walked away.
Defeated, Sylvia trudged back upstairs. She found Ashton sitting at his laptop. The room's ambient lighting cast sharp shadows over his striking features, emphasizing his strong jawline. Sitting there in silence, he radiated a dark, lethally attractive aura.
