Chapter 26
“Do you think this is a bit too much.” Kaia holds up a red lace bootyshort against herself.

Soft music floated around us while rack of lace slik and satin sat under the warm lightning of the store, making everything look ten times sexier than it actually was.
The place smelled expensive too, vanilla mixed with perfume and poor financial decision that the second Kaia had dragged me here, I knew I was about to spend money I absolutely did not need to spen.
“There is no such thing as too much in this store.” I told her lazily, flipping through a rack.
She snorted at this. “Why do I even bother, you literally could wear the skimmest of cloth and won’t flinch at it.”
I smirked, not even bothering to look up as my fingers brushes against a set of lingering near the back, and I paused for a second, taking it in.
Black lace, thin strap, everything about it was practically sinful, I let out a thoughtful hum before reaching for another set that was beside it. This one was a deep emerald green satin with delicate black lace trimming along the cups and hips.
The material looked really smooth enough to melt against the skin, and the color was ridiculously sexy, rich and dangerous. The king that would make anyone forget their basic human functions.
“Oh..seems like someone is planning something spicy.” Kaia says, staring at the lingerie in my hand, and I smirk again, faintly this time..
“Maybe.” My tone comes out a bit teasing.
She narrows her gaze at me before leaning against the rack. “Does this mean you’re upping your game with Caelum now.”
Shrugging casually, I stared at the emerald set again, my gaze lingering there. “We haven’t really gone that far yet.”
“Yet,” she repeats, a little bit dramatic, but I ignore her.
“I did on the other hand give him a couple of interesting books to read since that’s apparently like his thing.” My lips stretches into a smile when I remember yesterday and how he had struggled with himself when reading through every dirty little words written in the book.
“Let’s just say, he is going to be entertained for a while.” I add, chucking.
“Judging from the look on your face, I can only imagine.” Kaia says, letting out a small giggle.
Honestly. So could I, and the thought alone was amusing.
Picking up the emerald lingerie again, I hold it up slightly, my gaze drifting past the display only to stop on a familiar face that stood by the pajama section, looking like she had accidentally taken a wrong turn in life, only to end up in a place that she had absolutely no business being.
Tilting my head slowly to the side. “Okay, it’s either my eyes are playing some sick crazy tricks on me,” I murmured, “or it that Olivia Gonzalex in a lingerie store, browsing through sets of bootyshorts.”
Kaia’s head immediately snapped toward the direction I was looking, and a small gasp slipped past her lips before it turned into an amused smile.
“Well, well..well,” she whispers, folding her hand to her chest, “who would’ve thought? Little miss goodie two shoes isn’t so innocent after all.”
I nudged at her arm lightly, my eyes still on Olivia. “She’s not,” I said flatly. “And that’s kind of the whole point.”

Chapter 26
“Right..the architecture of your deal with Caelum.” She glanced at me.
“Exacly.” I said, my voice calm. “If anything, she has been a big help.” I added smugly.

“Honestly,” my gaze flickers back towards Kaia for a second, as she says lazily, “good for her. I didn’t think she had it in her to be interesting.”
Olivia remained rooted in her spot, in front of the display table, staring between two piece of lingerie with the expression for someone trying to solve something that was far more complicated than it needed to bed
She looked painfully lost, like a puppy who had been abandoned in the rain.
My lips curved up in a smirk as thought popped up my head. “Hold this.” I handed the emerald set to Kaja.
“Where are you going?” Her brows crease together.
I turned slightly, glancing back at her with a slow knowing smirk. “Going to do a little bit charity work.” My tone light.
“Delilah!” She whispers out a yell but I don’t stop and instead placed my hands under my chin in a mock innocence before walking off, ignoring her reaction completely.
By the time I reached over to where Olivia was, she was still staring at the same display, the confusion practically written across her face, it was almost pathetic, honestly.
I stopped right in front of her causing her to look up, nearly jumping when she see me.
“D..Delilah.”
A smile instantly makes its way to my face, my that was overly sweet. “Hey, Olivia.”
She continues to stare at me like she couldn’t genuinely process why I was talking to her, which was fair enough. Before Caelum, I probably wouldn’t even have looked her way, or show any slight interest to whatever she does.
“Hey,” she lets out awkwardly, letting out a nervous little laugh. Her eyes moved from me, darting around the store like she was expecting this interaction to become a public humiliation at any second.
Adorable.
My gaze drops from her to the lingerie in her hands, the tiny pink short with a white lace trimming which she was clenching a little too tight.
It was soft, innocent, something that suits her, and it was also a good choice, for her.
I lifted a brow. “I didn’t strike you as a cheeky short kind of person,” her face instantly turned pink.
“Um..Y..yeah,” she mumbled softly, while still smiling awkwardly.
God, she was so nervous, that I almost felt bad. Almost.
“So why the pick?” I asked, tilting my hea to the side.
And she fumbles instantly. “Oh..I..I..don’t know. I was talking to Jason, Jason Whitaker, and he said shorts like these were sexy and I just thought..” she swallowed, “um, why not.”
I had to physically stop myself from rolling my eyes at the mention of Jason. That human protein shake somehow continued proving that evolution could move backwards.
Honestly, his intelligence level was comparable to an unplugged toaster

Chapter 26

Olivia shifts awkwardly beneath my stares and it was obvious she want used to girls like me talking to her. It was like she was expecting some hidden camera to pop out at any moment.
Which honestly said more about the people at our school than it did about her
Crossing my arms loosely, I shake my head, saying. “First mistake, listening to Jason Whitaker.” Her brow hitched together in confusion. “He isn’t smart, Olivia.” I add, causing her to blink, still trying to understand were this was heading to.
Letting out a subtle sigh. “What I mean is,” I continue casually, “the boy thinks using three emojis in sentence counts as emotional depth.” I ignore the set of confusion that clouded her face again. “There are better people out there than him.””
“People who wound actually see you properly,” I added lightly. “And not just as ass and tits.” This made her go very still, and right there, just right there, was a crack. Tiny, but there.
Olivia looked down at the shorts in her hands before quietly asking. “You..really don’t like Jason, huh?”
Not in the slightest
“I just don’t think there’s anything good about him,” I answered honestly, “and I also don’t think you should let someone like him ruin your innocence.”
Her eyes widened a little at that word, innocence, like nobody had ever described her that way before.
And for a moment she stayed quiet, then softly, “why are you helping me?”
Her question catches me off guard for exactly half a second, because techincally, I wasn’t helping her. I was helping Caelum, but still.
I give her a light smile. “Us girls have to have each others backs.”
Her expression softens almost immediately. “Oh.”
“And trust me,” I added with a small laugh, “you can do better than some guys whose personality peaks at football practice.” Olivia laughs quietly this time, nervous still, but genuine.
“Thank you,” she said softly.
“Its no problem.”
Caelum you owe one, like a massive ass one.
I gave her one final smile before turning and walking back toward Kaia, and the second I reached her, she leaned forward, the curiosity dancing in her eyes.
“Well..”
Taking the emerald lingerie from her hand again, I say, “relatively well.”
She smirks. “You’re terrifyingly good at manipulating people.”
“Well, thank you.”
“That wasn’t a compliment.”
“I accepted it as one.” We moved toward the counter, paid for our thing and then left the store with our bags swinging at our side.
