Chapter 639-1

FAYE

By the time I reached the council hall, I could already hear voices coming from inside.

I slowed slightly as I approached the doors before pushing them open.

The council members were already seated around the long table, engaged in a discussion. My father was among them, seated in his usual place, while the elders occupied their positions around the table. A few of the younger council members were seated farther down.

The conversation gradually quieted as I stepped inside.

My father looked toward the door, and his expression immediately softened.

“Here she comes.

I smiled.

It was obvious they had been expecting me.

For some reason, that realization touched me more than I expected. I had been away from this hall for a long time, and although I had never considered myself a stranger to the pack, I had become accustomed to living somewhere else.

Yet, standing there and seeing all those familiar faces reminded me that there were still parts of my old life waiting for me here.

The younger members of the council stood when they saw me.

I recognized most of them immediately. Some were only slightly older than me, and I

remembered seeing them regularly during the years when I had still held my own place on the

council.

“Welcome back, Faye,” one of them said respectfully.

“It is good to have you home again,” another added.

“Thank you,” I replied warmly.

I turned my attention toward the elders.

They remained seated, but several of them smiled as they watched me approach. I walked toward the first elder and bowed respectfully.

“It is good to see you again.”

He smiled and reached for my hand.

“It is good to see you too, child.”

He placed his hand gently against my head and gave me his blessing.

“May the Moon continue to guide and protect you.”

I moved to the next elder and greeted her respectfully. She welcomed me warmly before placing her hand against my head and offering her own blessing.

I continued around the table, greeting each elder individually.

Some placed their hands on my head. Others held my hands between theirs as they

welcomed me and blessed me.

I accepted each blessing with gratitude.

By the time I had finished greeting everyone, I felt a warmth in my chest that I hadn’t

expected.

I had forgotten how much I had missed this.

Not the politics of the council or the responsibilities that came with it, but the sense of belonging that came with sitting among people who had known me all my life.

When I finally finished greeting the elders, my father gestured toward the empty seat beside

him.

“Come and sit.”

I nodded and took the seat.

For a moment, the council remained quiet. Then one of the elders looked toward me.

“Tell us, how is Blood Crescent?”

“It is doing well,” I replied.

“And Alpha Alexander?”

I smiled slightly.

“He is doing well too. He sends his regards,” I said.

The elder nodded approvingly.

“Good.”

Another elder asked, “And how was your journey?”

“It was comfortable. I left early enough, so I did not encounter any difficulties along the way.”

“I am glad to hear that,” he said.

I looked around the table as they continued asking about my life in Blood Crescent.
