A Warrior's Second Chance (Faye and Alexander) novel Chapter 671

Chapter 641-1

FAYE

The meeting ended without reaching anything close to an agreement.

Several members of the council had expressed concerns about the situation, and although Jason had responded to each one, his answers had done very little to settle the matter.

The discussion had become increasingly tense as the elders questioned the pack’s level of preparation, while Jason remained firm in his belief that Silver Hollow could handle whatever North Ridge brought against them.

I remained quiet throughout most of it, listening carefully and trying to process everything I had learned.

There was clearly much more happening in Silver Hollow than I had imagined.

The council members began leaving their seats. Conversations broke out among them almost immediately, with some of the elders continuing to discuss the situation among themselves while others gathered their documents.

I remained seated for a moment, still thinking about everything that had been said. I couldn’t stop thinking about what Elder Vincent had said.

Silver Hollow was short on food and weapons.

That wasn’t a minor problem.

A pack preparing for a possible war could not afford to have shortages in either of those areas. The fact that the council seemed so concerned while Jason continued insisting that everything was under control made me even more uneasy.

Eventually, I stood.

Jason had already started walking toward the exit. I watched him for a second before following. I wasn’t going to let him leave without speaking to him.

First of all, I needed to know the origin of this whole problem. Why was Conrad threatening war so fast? He hadn’t even been the Alpha of North Ridge for long. Was it some kind of inherited conflict?

I quickened my steps and caught up with Jason just as he was approaching the corridor outside the council hall.

“Jason.”

He continued walking for another step before stopping.

He didn’t turn immediately. I reached him and stepped around slightly so I could face him.

“We need to talk.”

Jason finally looked at me. There was something in his expression that told me he had been hoping I wouldn’t follow him.

“I have somewhere to be right now.”

“I’m sure you do,” I replied calmly. “But this will only take a few minutes.”

He looked at me for a moment before releasing a quiet breath.

“About what?”

I stared at him.

“About North Ridge.”

His expression changed slightly.

“What about it?”

“What is happening between you and Conrad?”

Jason’s face remained composed, but I could tell from the slight tension around his jaw that he wasn’t particularly interested in having this conversation with me.
