Sienna kept her head lowered, her face entirely impassive as if they weren't discussing her own crippling injury.

Jonathan, however, was livid. He turned his fury on Lynn. "Why wasn't she sent in the moment she got hurt? The medical shuttle arrived hours ago. Why the hell did you delay bringing her back until now?"

Lynn turned ghostly pale in terror, tears streaming down her face. "I'm so sorry, Director Coleman... it's my fault... I didn't take proper care of Dr. Sloan..."

"It has nothing to do with her," Sienna looked up, taking Lynn's trembling hand. "Jonathan, I insisted on loading the wounded first. She tried to stop me, but I refused to listen."

Jonathan stared at her and let out a heavy sigh.

"Sienna," his tone softened with utter helplessness. "Your body is your most valuable asset. In our line of work, endurance is everything. You're so young, please just take better care of yourself, alright?"

Sienna forced a small smile. "I know, Jonathan. I'll take better care of myself from now on."

Jonathan shook his head, gave a few more medical instructions, and left to attend to his rounds.

Lynn stayed by Sienna's side until her IV drip was finished and made sure she took her medication.

By then, the sun had already come up.

Since Lynn needed to report back to her department, she said her goodbyes and left.

Sienna was left completely alone in the ward.

She pulled out her phone and dialed Luna Lennox's number.

The call connected quickly, and Luna's frantic voice came through the speaker. "Sienna! I saw on the news that the disaster is contained and the first response teams are heading back. Are you back yet?"

"Yeah, I'm at the hospital," Sienna replied, her voice flat.

"The hospital? Are you hurt? I'm coming over right now!" Luna exclaimed in a panic.

"Don't panic," Sienna said. "I need you to run an errand for me first."

"What is it?"

"Run a background check on a few people for me."

Sienna sent over the information she had gathered from Caleb. "Look into these two men. It seems they operate as part of a gang. I need every possible detail you can find."

"Got it. Sit tight, I'll head over as soon as I get the intel."
