Betrayed by the Father Reborn in His Rival's Arms novel Chapter 106

With the current market sentiment already established, Lucius was a pawn that couldn't be discarded just yet.

For the future of the Whitman Group, Arthur decided to protect Lucius. But at the same time, he had to ensure a scandal like this never happened again.

From a purely financial standpoint, saving this marriage was non-negotiable. The moment a divorce was finalized, the stock prices were practically guaranteed to plummet.

He had completely swallowed his pride, essentially begging Madeline to give Lucius one more shot.

She nodded slowly. "Thank you, Grandpa. But if Lucius not only fails to change over this month but also repeatedly crosses my absolute bottom lines, how exactly will you handle it for me?"

There was a hidden landmine in her words, intentionally laid out for the old man in front of everyone.

Though her tone bordered on deferential, her stance was utterly unyielding.

The question made Arthur's face twitch as he quickly weighed his options.

He knew perfectly well that even if Lucius didn't love Madeline, he was entirely in love with power and money. He had grown thoroughly accustomed to his status and wealth, and wouldn't be stupid enough to torch his own future.

Seeing how adamant Lucius was about banishing that woman and watching him cry and beg Madeline, Arthur assumed the boy had genuinely realized his mistake. He knew exactly who could propel his career forward. Even if Lucius was just acting, he wouldn't fail to keep up the charade for a measly month.

After careful deliberation, Arthur finally gave his answer. "If he truly proves to be that much of an animal, and he's absolutely determined to ruin his own life, I won't stop him. You'll get your divorce."

With that, he shot Lucius a vicious glare. Knowing that Madeline was willing to give him a chance, a glimmer of desperate joy crossed Lucius's face. "Thank you, darling. Thank you, Grandpa."

The moment the words left his mouth, he passed out from the excruciating pain. His back was a mess of coagulated blood, and Barnaby quickly ordered the staff to haul him to the hospital.
