Suddenly, a nurse walked by. Lucius had no choice but to put away his phone and open the door to enter, lest he be discovered blocking the entrance.
The moment Lucius appeared, Grant's expression shifted instantly. His face filled with sorrow as he wiped away his tears.
Though Lucius hadn't understood the context of their previous conversation, Grant's words had left a deep impression. He could practically repeat them verbatim. He decided to remain calm and figure out exactly what they were talking about first.
His expression neutral, he walked up to the hospital bed. He leaned in slightly to look at Liliana and called out softly, "Liliana."
Liliana's face had been covered in tears. She stared blankly, as if unable to believe her surgery had failed.
Hearing Lucius's voice, she slowly turned her head.
Looking at him, she burst into loud sobs.
"Lucius, my legs..."
"I've lost the best part of me!"
She cried out.
Lucius sat on the edge of the bed and gently patted her shoulder. "Liliana, stay strong."
Liliana's tears fell like rain. Between sobs, she choked out, "My legs, Lucius, I lost my legs."
Lucius comforted her. "You're still young, there's still a chance. I'll help you find top specialists. There are many doctors here who treat complex conditions, and we can look into alternative therapies too."
"It'll never heal. It won't heal, Lucius. This is the most advanced surgical center in the world. If they can't fix it, my life is practically over."
Liliana continued to cry endlessly.
Lucius pondered for a moment, then took out a card and placed it in front of her. "There are millions of dollars on this card. If you're feeling down, buy yourself something to cheer up."
Liliana immediately stopped crying.
She snatched it up. Ever since she defied his wishes—the time she got him drugged with an aphrodisiac—Lucius had canceled all her supplementary cards. Finally having access to his funds again filled her with secret glee.
