"Holding onto resentment is just locking yourself in a cage of your own making," Raelynn said, her eyes devoid of emotion. "Things are fine the way they are. If he wants my blessing, he can have it."
She didn't elaborate further.
Instead, she stood up and walked away.
Sierra pressed her lips into a tight line.
She hadn't expected Raelynn to be so unbelievably composed.
Any other woman would have been consumed by bitterness.
Even if she couldn't win Sebastian's heart, she would at least try to sabotage his alliance with Zella.
But Raelynn...
She was completely indifferent.
She was just going to let it happen.
Sierra looked down.
Her grip on her juice glass tightened until her knuckles turned white.
...
The research team at Kingsford University had recently undergone a reorganization, keeping Raelynn swamped with work for a while.
The next time Ian called her, it was to invite her to look at houses for their upcoming marriage.
Raelynn set down a file on raw medical materials. "...Today?"
"Yeah. If you're at the university, I can swing by and pick you up." Ian didn't really leave room for her to refuse, sensing her hesitation.
"Raelynn, are you still upset about the Hudson family's bidding war?"
Hearing him bring it up, she quickly replied, "No, I understand."
She didn't want him to think she was holding a grudge over business tactics. The truth was, she wasn't hung up on the bidding war itself. Rather, she was constantly second-guessing whether she would be able to walk away cleanly after the marriage. The bidding incident had simply opened her eyes to reality.
Ian might not be able to single-handedly fight off the entire Hudson family and the corporate board.
She was terrified that taking her daughter and leaving wouldn't be as simple as he promised.
"I'm on my way. See you soon," Ian said, hanging up.
Raelynn stared at her darkened phone screen.
She massaged her temples.

The readers' comments on the novel: Boss, Your Wife Signed the Divorce Agreement Before the Wedding
Sebastian, the man of few words.... needs to find all the words! Needs to fight for her! On note, seven years seems like a long time for this master plan (which I am sure goes back much farther). Rereading this novel, and it seems like everything has played out in a 5-8 month time span. And I feel like all Sebastian's doings/ plan have not been revealed. I hope we get to see the whole picture and have the resolutions we hope. But seven years of mistreatment, I just don't see Raelynn fully coming back. If these was 2-3 years, maybe, and I know it changes some characters around, but it would still work. Rooting for them!...
Literally on edge!...
No, no, no! Sebastian needs to nip the Zella situation and win Raelynn back! Also, Leo, he is a wildcard for Sebastian's master plan... Sebastian- we know you know, what we know, win your family back!...
I thought now Sebastian and Raelynn will be together now that seraphina is not but you are not letting them to be. Two new female around Sebastian 😭...
I think Ian is sly. He is not what he seems. Sebastian loves Raelyn and they have a daughter together. Besides he has no family to even take care of him. I feel Raelyn should realise that Sebastian is only her true love and go back to him....
The croix family is evil...
