Buying My Forever Wife novel Chapter 150

Which meant Ivy's "marriage" was almost certainly just an excuse she fabricated to reject him.

He wasn't going to give up that easily.

In reality, Alaric had fully anticipated Ethan sending people to investigate, so he specifically contacted the registry office and had their marriage records permanently sealed.

He had done it because he despised unnecessary trouble and absolutely refused to let a marriage dictate his life.

Furthermore, this marriage was completely against his will.

Alaric refused to let a single soul know that he was married to Ivy.

And he especially refused to let Ivy leverage their marriage to extract even more benefits from him.

At least, that was exactly what Alaric had thought the moment he married her.

Even now, his stance on the matter hadn't changed.

Yet, over the course of living together day in and day out, Alaric realized he was slowly losing control. And this total loss of control was becoming intensely intoxicating.

On one hand, he was greedily reveling in the feeling.

On the other, he constantly forced himself to remember that he absolutely could not fall in love with a vain, gold-digging woman like Ivy, whose eyes only ever saw money.

That afternoon.

Ivy finished preparing the dumplings and brought them to the hospital for her sister.

When she arrived, she happened to walk in right as Gemma was undergoing her chemotherapy.

Gemma was lying on the bed, her face completely drenched in tears. The endless vomiting and agonizing pain radiating through her body made her look utterly broken.

Ivy stood frozen in the doorway of the ward, tears immediately spilling over her lashes.

She knew chemotherapy was a brutal process.

But watching her sister's fragile, emaciated body endure such relentless torture completely shattered her. The agonizing pain twisted her heart into knots, making it incredibly difficult to even remain standing.

Finally, she collapsed into a crouch just outside the door, sobbing uncontrollably.

Ivy waited until the chemotherapy session finally ended, then waited even longer as the doctors came out to brief her on the situation. After fully composed herself, she waited a while longer for Gemma to recover before finally daring to walk inside.

Desperate to spend as much time with her sister as possible, Ivy called Mrs. Gable and asked her to pick Stella up.

She stayed until late into the night, waiting until Gemma was fast asleep before finally heading back to The Starlight Estate.

By the time she got home, Stella was already sound asleep.

But under the dim, amber glow of the living room lights, Ivy could still make out a solitary figure sitting on the sofa.
