The next morning.
Maisie and Gideon arrived to join Alaric for breakfast.
Inside the presidential suite's dining area, the staff had already laid out an extravagant spread of gourmet dishes.
As soon as Ivy stepped out of the washroom, she spotted the two people who had dropped Mr. Foster off the night before.
Her immediate instinct was to turn invisible.
But Maisie spotted her and practically skipped over.
"Oh, wow, Secretary Sawyer! You're actually sharing a room with your boss?"
Leo quickly rushed over to run interference.
"This is a suite. There are several rooms. Secretary Sawyer and I each have our own, while the boss sleeps in the master bedroom."
Maisie shot Leo a side-eye. "Why are you explaining so frantically? I didn't say she was sleeping in Alaric's bed."
Laughing it off, she walked away and took a seat next to Alaric at the table.
Radiating her usual carefree and lively energy, she turned to Alaric playfully.
"Alaric, can we go beachcombing later?"
Alaric's gaze drifted toward Ivy.
Her beautiful little face was still tense, her unhappiness written all over her features.
Ignoring her mood, Alaric responded to Maisie.
"Yeah, I'll go with you."
"Perfect!"
Maisie enthusiastically served some food onto Alaric's plate before turning to Ivy.
"Secretary Sawyer, why are you standing all the way over there? Come eat with us."
Ivy offered a polite nod. "No, thank you. Please, enjoy yourselves."
"Oh, come on, join us!"
Maisie physically pulled her over, forcing her into the seat right next to Alaric.
Then, she plopped down next to Gideon.
"Secretary Sawyer, I heard Alaric has a strict rule against female secretaries, let alone bringing one on a business trip. How did you manage to be the exception?"
Anyone with ears could hear the probing in her voice.
Ivy glanced at the man beside her and answered honestly.
