Seeing Alaric snap at her the moment he walked through the door, only to immediately ask about Ivy, made Elena's blood boil.
Did he really care about that girl so much?
Fueled by jealousy, Elena couldn't resist twisting the knife.
"Oh, she's back. But the second she walked in, she went straight to her room. She's been sleeping this whole time."
She was certain this would paint Ivy as incredibly lazy.
What employer in their right mind would tolerate a nanny who spent her days lounging around doing nothing?
Alaric's impression of Ivy was bound to sour. It was only a matter of time before he threw her out on the street.
To her shock, Alaric didn't seem to care in the slightest. He simply adjusted Stella in his arms and headed for the stairs.
He assumed Ivy was resting in the master bedroom upstairs.
Elena quickly chased after him. "Alaric, you must be exhausted from your business trip. Why don't you get some rest? I can watch little Stella."
Alaric stopped on the stairs and glanced back down at her.
"No need. I missed her, and I want to spend time with her. If you don't have anything else to do, you can head back to the hospital for your shift."
With that, he carried his daughter the rest of the way up.
Elena froze in her tracks, completely stunned that Alaric was practically kicking her out again.
Hadn't they agreed she would stay and take care of Stella?
Was it because Ivy had returned?
It made perfect sense.
Alaric notoriously hated crowded spaces.
Having an extra person in the house completely threw off his routine.
If she wanted to stay permanently and become Stella's official mother, Ivy had to go.
Elena turned on her heel and marched straight toward the guest room serving as the nanny's quarters.
Ivy really was asleep.
Traveling the entire day had left her completely exhausted.
