Clumsy Beast, Keep Your Paws Off novel Chapter 688

Chapter 688: Chapter 688: The Stubborn Little Female and the Shameless Angel

The winter afternoon was exceptionally quiet inside the main bedroom. Soft, golden sunlight filtered through the windows, casting long, peaceful light across the floor.

Su Qinglan stood in front of the large, bamboo wardrobe, her hands moving rhythmically as she folded the freshly washed winter clothes.

The scent of dried lavender and clean hides filled her senses. With the spiritual plants temporarily taken care of and her children safely playing in the other room, she finally had a quiet moment to organise the household’s heavy winter cloaks and thick blankets.

Click.

The sudden, distinct sound of the heavy wooden door opening broke the silence of the room.

Su Qinglan didn’t turn around immediately, assuming it was one of the cubs or perhaps Shi Feng coming in to help her carry the heavier linens. But before she could even speak, another sharp sound echoed through the quiet space.

Thud. Click.

The door wasn’t just closed; it was explicitly locked from the inside.

Su Qinglan froze, a neat square of fur shawl still held firmly in her hands. A wave of confusion washed over her. Why would anyone lock the bedroom door in the middle of the day?

She slowly turned her head, her eyes widening slightly as she caught sight of the tall, elegant figure leaning casually against the locked doorframe.

It was An Mo.

A shockingly bright, handsome smile was plastered across his face. His swirling golden eyes vibrated with an intense, playful warmth that he usually hid beneath his aristocratic exterior. There was a predatory grace in the way he stood, his dark hair cascading over his shoulders like silk.

"An Mo?" Su Qinglan blinked, her voice filled with genuine surprise. "You’re here? Why did you lock the door?"

An Mo didn’t answer with words right away.

Instead, he let out a low, deeply satisfied hum that vibrated from the depths of his chest. His long legs moved with silence across the floor. In a matter of three long strides, he completely closed the distance between them.

Before Su Qinglan could even lay down the folded fur in her hands, a pair of strong, muscular arms suddenly snaked out from behind her.

Gasped!

With a sudden, powerful pull, An Mo encircled her slender waist and yanked her backwards.

Su Qinglan’s back instantly crashed flush against his broad, solid chest. The sudden impact sent a jolt of heat straight through her winter layers.

"But... what are you doing?" Su Qinglan stammered, her face instantly turning a light shade of pink. She dropped the clothing back onto the cabinet shelf, her small hands automatically coming up to grip his thick forearms, which were locked like iron bands around her waist.

She arched her back slightly, turning her head just enough to look at him over her shoulder. A haughty, defiant expression settled on her delicate features as she deliberately challenged him.

"No," Su Qinglan chuckled softly, her tone dripping with amusement. "I did not miss you at all. What is there to miss? I only suggested it because the spiritual plants needed a warm shelter, and your house just happened to be the most convenient option. Don’t flatter yourself too much, Lord An Mo."

An Mo’s golden eyes flared with sudden, intense delight. He let out a low, rumbling chuckle that vibrated right through her back. He absolutely adored this sassy, sharp-tongued side of her. It was a thousand times more exciting than when she was merely being polite.

"Is that so?" An Mo whispered, his grin widening wickedly.

Without giving her a chance to retract her words, he deliberately shifted his lower body, pushing his hips even closer against her back. His entire torso rubbed firmly behind her, eliminating every single millimetre of space left between them.

Flush!

In an instant, Su Qinglan’s entire face turned a violent, scorching shade of red. Her eyes widened into perfect circles as she suddenly felt a prominent, rigid heat pressing firmly against her lower back...something that she absolutely should not be touching so recklessly in the middle of the bright afternoon.

An Mo chuckled darkly from behind her ear, completely enjoying her chaotic reaction. He leant closer, his warm breath fanning across her burning cheek.

"Lan Lan... be honest now," he whispered playfully, his voice laced with pure amusement.
