Don't Mess with the Girl with Candy novel Chapter 1613

If he hadn't, Shanley really wouldn't have known how to explain himself to her later.

Felton and Flint exchanged a look and nodded in unison.

He should have thought of that ages ago.

And besides they had just found out that getting this surgery could apparently affect a man's performance in bed.

Haha. No wonder she flew back on a red-eye flight.

"Get lost." Shanley waved them off impatiently, taking the menu into the kitchen.

Sweet talk wasn't going to fix what happened today. He needed to cook a few more of her favorite dishes.

Sizzle—

He tossed the fresh greens into the pan. Because of the moisture, the hot oil aggressively sputtered out.

Unable to dodge in time, several bright red burn marks flared up on the back of his hand.

Looking at the burns, Shanley spaced out for a brief moment.

Juniper slept for three hours.

When she woke up, the rich aroma of food filled the air, smelling distinctly like chicken curry.

She threw off the covers, walked out to the living room, and saw four dishes and a soup perfectly arranged on the dining table.

She had been eating bland salads and cold sandwiches abroad for the past few days, completely losing her appetite.

Looking at the vibrant, aromatic Western-style feast, her mouth immediately watered.

"Have a seat, the soup will be ready in just a second." Shanley placed a glass of juice next to her hand. "I added passion fruit, it tastes pretty good."

She took a sip; it really was delicious.

A moment later, he finished setting everything out and sat down across from her. "What do you want to try first?"

As he reached for some food, he deliberately exposed his reddened, burned arm.

Catching sight of it, Juniper looked up at him and asked, "You got hurt?"

"Hm?"

He rolled his sleeve down, offering a gentle smile. "It's nothing, really. A little ointment and it'll be fine."

"A sympathy play?"

"Don't you dislike kids?" He nuzzled against her palm. "I'd give up my life for you, let alone making a sacrifice like this."

Her eyelashes fluttered. To say she wasn't moved would be a lie.

"I never said I didn't like kids." Her red lips parted as she spoke in a low voice. "I just like them conditionally."

"Conditionally?"

"Yeah." She nodded. "I like Celine's baby. I like kids who are clean, pretty, and well-behaved."

"And—"

She leaned forward, bringing her face inches from his, raising an eyebrow with a soft laugh. "I would like your child, too."

He was gorgeous. Any child of his certainly wouldn't be ugly.

"I just can't bear the thought of you going through it."

He pulled her into his arms, resting his forehead against hers, his heart aching for her. "Can't science advance a little faster?"

"?"

"I want to carry the baby for you."
