Chapter 481 A Stolen Kiss‘ Unsettling Aftermath
The feeling was totally different. A complete one eighty
Why had Lynn kissed him?
Lucas couldn’t make sense of it. He rested a hand over his chest, where his heart was still hammering away, refusing to settle down.
When Lynn kissed him, his mind had gone completely blank. He hadn’t even been fully aware it was happening.
He slowly pushed himself up, and as he glanced down, he quickly grabbed a throw pillow and held it in front of himself.
“Damn it…”
Frowning, he covered his face with both hands and let out a long, heavy sigh.
Isabelle was coming down the stairs just as Lynn was passing by.
“Did you take your medicine?” Isabelle asked.
“Yeah. I’m gonna lie down for a bit.”
Isabelle nodded. “Just call me if you need anything.”
“Will do.”
Lynn smiled and headed to her room. Once inside, she turned the lock.
“Lucas, are you running a fever too?” Isabelle asked, noticing him spaced out on the couch. His face was flushed a ridiculous sha
of red.
Lucas hesitated. “No.”
“You might want to check. Your face is all red,” Isabelle said.
“Okay.” Lucas nodded. It took him a good while to finally calm down before he retreated to his own room.
A voice in his head whispered that he wasn’t… quite the same anymore.
Lucas paced around his room, thoughts full of Lynn. His body’s response wouldn’t fade. Even when it did, within two minutes, thinking of her would bring it all rushing back.
So damn uncooperative.
That evening, as everyone gathered for dinner, Isabelle and Lynn were already seated at the table, chatting.
“Is Lucas sick or something?”
Lynn smiled to herself. “Oh really?”
Seemed like that trick Daisy taught her actually worked.

He always had such a sharp mouth, didn’t he? Let’s see if that mouth was still so tough now.
He definitely wasn’t sleeping tomght/ he’d be up thinking about that kiss.
She’d heard Lucas was pretty reserved about guy–girl stuff. Well, let’s see how steady he could stay now.
Lucas came downstairs. His eyes flickered over Lynn for just a second before landing on Damian, who was bringing dishes in fro the kitchen.
Quietly, he went to help.
Damian looked at him like he’d seen a ghost.
“You coming down with something too?” Damian asked.
Lucas muttered, “No…”
He frowned. Was his face really that noticeable?
Lynn pressed her lips together, hiding a smile.
Isabelle glanced at her.
“Did you mess with him?”
ALY
Lynn wiped the smirk off her face. “Mess with him? This is just payback! He’s always pinching my cheek, you know.”
She figured his face was still red from where she’d pinched him earlier.
A grown man like Lucas wouldn’t actually blush over a kiss, right?
“Does your husband cook for you whenever he gets the chance?” Lynn nodded toward the figure in the kitchen.
“Pretty much. He’s really good at it, too. Honestly better than our housekeeper.”
amian and Lucas brought the rest of the food to the table, and the four of them sat down to eat.
ot his head down, focused entirely on his plate–too nervous to look up, too nervous to glance at Lynn.
of Lynn’s mouth lifted. She picked up a piece of steak and placed it right into Lucas‘ bowl.
and, holding the bowl, stilled. He swallowed a mouthful of food, raised an eyebrow, and finally looked at her.
dn’t dare breathe too deeply.
what was going on with Lynn?
First she kissed him, now she was serving him food…
Damian watched Lynn, then turned to Isabelle.
Isabelle quickly picked up a piece of meat for him, too.
After dinner, Lucas went straight back to his room instead of hanging out with
everyone else.

They talked and laughed while Lucas tossed and turned in bed, unable to sleep a
Early the next morning, Lucas emerged from his room just as Damian–already in his suit jacket.
“You’re up this early too?” Damian adjusted his tie
“Mm.” Lucas hadn’t slept all night.
“You sure you’re not sick? You’ve been flushed for a full day now.” Damian checked his wristwatch
Lucas didn’t answer. He sat with him at the dining table, his eyes drifting toward the staircase!
Damian said, “She’s already gone.”
Lucas paused. “Gone?”
“She was up even before I was. Daisy came and picked her up.”
Lynn really meant it. She went straight to stay at Daisy’s place, not even bothering to swing by Lucas‘ to grab her luggage–just few outfits anyway.
Lucas only realized it later when he got back to his place.
At first, he thought she’d come back after a couple of days. But then he found out she hadn’t returned for over two weeks.
Damian studied his expression and couldn’t help but shake his head with a faint smile.
They had just finished breakfast when Regina arrived.
“Regina,” Lucas greeted.
“Oh, Lucas, long time no see! You’ve gotten even more handsome!” Regina beamed at him, giving his arm a warm pat.
Damian chatted with Regina for a few minutes before hurrying off.
He’d asked Regina to keep Isabelle company, worried her fever might flare up again.
Lucas left at the same time as Damian.
“Heading to the office now, sir?” Bruce asked from the driver’s seat.
“First, to pick up Mrs. Cross‘ mother,” Damian replied from the back, already opening his laptop.
After collecting Caroline, Damian’s car made its way toward the Foster Group building.
