Chapter 482 A One–Dollar Acquisition
Victoria, along with two attorneys and several Foster Group shareholders, was already waiting in the lobby.
“Later, you just need to sit quietly. Don’t feel you have to speak. Leave the rest to me,” Damian said softly to Caroline.
Caroline nodded. “Alright.”
It was her first time ever stepping into Foster Group headquarters.
Bruce and Dylan followed a few steps behind them, with two additional security personnel further back.
Victoria summoned the elevator. The
group split between two cars and went straight up to the CEO’s office suite.

When they arrived upstairs, Jonathan, Camellia, and Sophia were already seated inside.
“Have a seat,” Damian said, his tone brief.
Everyone settled into the available chairs.
Sophia watched him, taking in his air of command. He seemed completely familiar with the surroundings, and everyone present was watching for his lead.
Victoria produced a flash drive and projected its contents onto the screen.
“Good morning, everyone. I’m Victoria, Mr. Foster’s executive assistant. I believe most of you know me by now. Today, I’m here regarding Mr. Foster’s final wishes, to provide clarity for all concerned.”
All eyes turned to the screen.
It showed a copy of Christian’s legally executed last will and testament, along with a video file. The video had been sent separately to both Damian’s and Jonathan’s private computers.
The attorney beside Victoria took documents from a portfolio and distributed them to the shareholders.
Jonathan and Sophia opened theirs immediately.
The lawyer then began walking everyone through the contents point by point.
Sophia was simmering with anger inside.
After the formal meeting concluded and the other shareholders had left, the office doors were shut. Only then did Sophia finally speak up.
“When was this will changed? How come we weren’t informed!”
Jonathan let out a cold scoff. “Sit down, Sophia.”
He had reminded her before they left the house not to act impulsively.
She had only learned the day before that Foster Group had been acquired–for one dollar
She thought she had misheard, but it was true.

And the acquirer was Damian.
This, too, had been Christian’s decisión.
The video clearly showed Christian explaining his decision to sell the company to Damian. His mental state appeared entirely sound, clearly indicating the recording wasn’t made just a day or two before his passing.
One dollar.
One single dollar!
How absurd!
Christian had left the majority of his liquid assets to the Tucker family. He left Caroline only Foster Manor, with no significant cash bequest.
But selling Foster Group to Damian was something Sophia had never anticipated.
Christian had also signed a formal agreement with Damian, captured on video.
A portion of any future dividends from the company would be directed to Caroline’s branch. If the company incurred losses, neither family would bear any liability.
Sophia had thought the worst outcome would be holding a title in the company without real power. She never expected to not even hold a single share.
Now, they were essentially dependent on the Foster family, guaranteed a comfortable living for life, but without a shred of authority in the business.
Camellia and Jonathan didn’t say much.
Christian had actually considered this path for a long time. He had hinted at it, both directly and indirectly, but fearing Sophia’s potential reaction, he had never spelled it out plainly.
He was afraid she might resent Isabelle and Caroline during such an uncertain time.
He felt he had to wait until the end to let the full truth be known.
Well, now neither family got the shares. They had gone to an outsider.

The attorney stated, “This will was executed by Mr. Foster three months prior to his passing. It has been duly notarized. His personal physician was present and can attest to his sound mind and mental capacity at the time.”
By placing the group in Damian’s hands, Christian’s underlying intent was for Damian to protect them all.
Camellia and Jonathan understood that.
No one in their family truly knew how to run a major corporation. At best, they might hold mid–level positions. Taking on anything greater was beyond their capabilities.
Damian spoke calmly, “Your grandfather stated he reserved a director–level position for members of the family. If you desire equity, upon reaching the position of general manager and demonstrating a requisite level of competence, you may buy back shares for one dollar. This option is reserved for you in perpetuity.”

Sephia was left speechless. They all thought she was incompetent. Why else would things have turned out this way?
They could have just split it equally. She had already compromised in her own mind. How did it come to this?
She clenched her fists, tension gathering in her wrists, her face filled with resentment.
Caroline let out a quiet sigh of relief.
This outcome was perhaps the best possible one. It saved everyone a great deal of worry.
And it avoided a lot of potential trouble down the road.

Camellia reached over and placed her hand over Sophia’s. Christian had gone to great pains to arrange this. This result was likely for the best.
If she had the ability, she could earn it back. If not, being provided for comfortably for tife was also an acceptable fate.
Caroline looked toward Damian.
He gave her a slight, reassuring nod.
“You’ve been working on Foster Group matters for a long time now, haven’t you?” Sophia asked, her voice tight.
Damian didn’t deny it. “Yes.”
A long time ago, during Christian’s first major hospitalization, Christian had sought Damian out. They had spoken for a long time. The initial idea was a preliminary plan to divide shares among everyone. But later, Christian realized that wouldn’t work–it would only lead to family arguments sooner or later.
