Verity:
I remained standing in the kitchen while Jaguar walked away after saying all of that to me.
For a few moments, I couldn’t even understand what had just happened.
Then it hit me.
Of course.
Jaguar had finally gotten to sleep with me, and now he was starting to show his true colors.
Before this, he’d always spoken so sweetly to me.
Maybe he’d started thinking I was under his control now.
That was a very big misunderstanding.
What angered me even more was the way he’d drawn a boundary for me and then walked straight out to see Gigi.
And it wasn’t just him.
Theodore was there too.
I marched back toward my room, picked up my phone, and called Theodore.
One thing was certain. I was going to get him out of there.
However, Theodore declined my call.
I called again.
He declined it again.
I called a third time, and once again, he cut the call.
A few seconds later, a message from him appeared.
And the moment I read it, my temper flared.
Theodore: If I’m declining your call, it means I’m busy, doesn’t it?
But after reading his message, something about my own reaction felt strange.
I didn’t even know why.
I was only pretending to like them, so technically, I should’ve been angry because my plan wasn’t going the way I wanted.
Then why did this feel so personal?
Why was I genuinely irritated?
The realization made me hate myself a little.
I came back out of my room, tossed my phone onto the couch, and sat down.
I buried my face in my hands.
"Oh no! Something’s wrong with the Alpha King!"
A maid’s panicked voice made me immediately pull my hands away from my face.
I stepped out of my wing and saw her running frantically through the living room.
"Alpha King—-Jaguar, Alpha King— Theodore isn’t in his room."
She could barely get the words out, her hands trembling badly.
"Wait. Why are you looking for them?" I asked.
Then I remembered that just a little while ago, she’d been talking about Ragnar.
"I don’t know what’s wrong with Alpha King Ragnar. I went to give him his night tea, and I found him lying on the floor. His eyes had rolled completely white."
The moment she said that, my heart lurched.
I left her there and ran toward Ragnar’s room.
By the time I entered, Ragnar was no longer lying where she’d found him.
He had somehow dragged himself toward the corner of the room.
He was breathing hard, each breath leaving him with force.
His eyes narrowed when he saw me.
Then he lifted one hand and moved his fingers slightly, gesturing that he was fine and that I shouldn’t come any closer.
"Go get some water," I told the maid before stepping farther into the room and rushing toward him.
