I stopped halfway and turned to look at him.

"You know who you told that your phone had been with me, don’t you?" he asked softly.

I stared at him in silence.

"Don’t ask me anything right now. I won’t be able to answer," I replied just as quietly.

Then I walked away.

As I began to move forward, I started to feel a little anxious, like there was something I was supposed to do but hadn’t.

After a few more steps, it suddenly hit me what I’d forgotten.

Oh shoot, I was supposed to speak with Ragnar about Jenna.

I grimaced, smacking my forehead with my palm.

Could I do it now? I asked myself.

I mean, it was around midnight.

Jenna must have been asleep by now because I’d fed her dinner myself really, really late since she wouldn’t eat for anyone else.

I could tell from the way her eyes kept drifting shut that she was exhausted.

So the minute I left her room, I expected her to fall asleep.

She was also taking a lot of relaxants, and for now, I wasn’t saying anything because it was important that she simply rested.

But later on, taking too much medication wouldn’t be good for her.

Hopefully, by the end of this week, she would have no reason to take that much medication either.

And I was going to make sure of it.

I swiftly turned and headed back toward Alpha King Ragnar’s room.

Every muscle in his body was extremely well defined, and against his tanned skin, oh, I finally got a clear look at the tattoo on his V-line.

It had only been a few seconds, but it felt like I’d been standing there staring at him for an hour.
