But she was Chris’s wife.

Now that made things interesting.

Back when Chris was in the military, he had gone undercover at the border for six months and cost Fabian plenty of men.

Fabian had been carrying that grudge ever since, just waiting for the right chance to make Chris pay.

No matter how untouchable a man seemed, there was always a woman who could be his weak spot.

The question was, which woman was Chris’s? His legal wife, or Ms. Jasper, the ex-girlfriend?

Fabian found the whole thing very entertaining.

He flipped through Winter’s file. Aside from being Chris’s wife, she was a standout woman in her own right. Her résumé was impressive, and her professional credentials put her at the very top of the industry.

At last, his eyes landed on the names of Winter’s late parents.

Warren Scott.

Fabian took a drag from his cigarette and slowly exhaled.

The pale smoke drifted apart in front of him. He narrowed his eyes, then suddenly smiled.

So Winter was Warren Scott’s daughter,

After leaving the Xander estate, Winter went straight to the station.

As soon as she got out of the car, she had the uneasy feeling that someone was watching her.

She shut the door and glanced into the rearview mirror, but there was no one behind her.

After everything she had been through, the kidnapping and the attempts on her life, she had become far more sensitive than before. She figured that was only natural. It was survival instinct. She didn’t want to

die.

But the moment she walked into the station lobby, that strange feeling disappeared.

By the time she got off work, Roy still hadn’t replied to her message.

She went to the gym by herself.

Chris’s parents had died because of her father. Warren was dead now, but the hatred between the two families still hung over them. She knew she had done nothing wrong, yet she still couldn’t get past it.

Since she had already decided to disappear from Chris’s world, she needed to train even harder.

Roy had no family. Zion said he didn’t have any other friends either.

If Roy disappeared from this world without a trace, no one might even notice.

Winter frowned. Roy was too careful and too thoughtful not to realize that if he stayed out of contact for too long, they would worry.

She had a growing feeling that something had happened to him.

She told Zion what she was worried about, then asked, “Do you know where he lives? Let’s go find him.”

“I do.” Zion nodded. “I’ll take you there.”

He had only been there twice, but the place was easy enough to find.

Roy was well-off. He lived in one of Liono City’s upscale neighborhoods.
